Yesterday I had dicussion with my friend which drives a 360 spider challenge stradale with a tubi exhaust. Every time we meet and talk about the sound of my 328 with testpipe and larini exhaust, he says its not the real ferrari sound. I have the exhaust over a year on the ferrari and I am pleast with it, at idle its not loud but when I pul the trotle its sound beautyful and no drone at any revs. Also at the long run its not to loud. I would like to hear some more from F chatters about the Larini versus Tubi

personally - on the older cars like the 328 ,308 i prefer the larini over the tubi.... the newe cars like a 355 or newer, i dont think i heard other than a tubi.

for your 328 - you have the best choice.

Who cares what he thinks? You wrote that you are happy with it. He also does not have the "real" Ferrari sound (like it came from the factory) because he put a Tubi on it.

I could have gotten a Tubi BUT instead I also got the Larini with the test pipe. Let me tell you I'm so happy and satisfied with the sound, although I got mine used from a friend, the price of the Tubi is way too much compare to Larini, and personally I think the Larini looks better.

I have an F355 Berlinetta with Larini and straight pipes. I drive twice a month with 10-25 other F-cars, and many have commented the sounds coming from my car, especially at load, rates up there with the best of them.

I drive with poncho regularly and will attest his car sounds like a screaming demon on fire stuck in the eye with a hot poker. Granted nothing in the world will make your 328 sound like a 355 except a trade in. Exhaust opinions are like the best 308 thread, whatever a guy has is the best of course. I have a tubi, and it's the best , much better than larini :)

Tubi did not come into existence until 1987; the 328 was introduced in 1985; do the math ;-) Ansa is actually the "original Ferrari sound". That was, and is, an idiotic comment made by your friend. I happen to have a Larini test pipe and exhaust on my 328 and it sounds great, easily as good as any Tubi I've heard on the same car, and at about 60% the cost.

I could go all sorts of directions with this, but I wont.

Personally, I have a Tubi on my 308. I love the sound. I have not heard my car with any other sound (it came with the Tubi), but it makes me happy. Now, if you have a Larini, Ansa, Tubi, or original exhaust with your car and you are happy with it then just be as HAPPY as YOU can be with it. If you dont like it - then change it - if you like it - keep it. Its YOUR car and YOU are the one who lives with it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot. Dont let YOUR opinion of your own car be swayed by someone elses statement.

    Now, post photos!! :)

Of course, your decision and opinion is what really count but I must tell you that in the case of a Lamborghini Diablo, I heard a 6.0 with Larini exhaust and it was the best souding Diablo I ever heard!!! Pure music and, believe it or not, the same magic of a F355 V8 !!!

So, I for myself would seriously consider a Larini if I was looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my 3,2 Ferrari engine.

I also think it is a good thing to benefit of a not too loud exhaust note at idle and at cruise speeds because otherwise it can become quickly annoying when you drive for a long time ( one of the reason I also love very much my NSX ... ).

Do you really like the way your car sounds or you find yourself being in a situation where you dream to find a more satisfying solution?

    Cheers!

While the tubi and the larini are both nice sounding exhausts, I prefer the vavumi system. Less back pressure, more hp and torque, sounds even better.

"he says its not the real ferrari sound"

Hmm... what would that sound be? Seems to me A Real Ferrari Sound would be the way a REAL FERRARI left the factory. It wasnt with a Tubi or other such system...Whether you prefer that sound or not is your own business. Why care what someone else thinks is "the real Ferrari Sound? What's a "Real Piano Sound?" Steinway? Baldwin? Bosendorfer? Yamaha? It's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.

i wish my 89 328 with tubi and test pipe sounded that loud,,,,that was great...i guess im ok with the way my car sounds,,,the larini test pipe made it the sound a little more raw with a little more volume,,,brett

I have a Larini on my 328 - really well made, sounds great, looks great. Incidentally, my 328 also has sequential EFI and MoTec EMS, so before fitting the Larini, we optimised the tuning with the old, standard exhaust system on a dyno, then we fitted the Larini, then optimised again on the same dyno. Apart from the change of exhaust, then re-tuning, nothing else was changed - and we got 7% more hp at the rear wheels, on the same dyno! :D :D
