    Absolutely true.

So why would Ferrari Spa do this and risk pissing off their loyal clientele?
    MONEY

They make five times the profit on extras and branding than they do on the cars. PLUS once they have the FCA under their thumb they control the sales and access to all goods with the name Ferrari on it.

They don't really want the FCA to stop desiring items with the FERRARI name on it - THEY WANT A PIECE OF THE ACTION$

Would you like an FCA hat with the Ferrari name on it? No longer can the FCA go to Chinese hat makers and buy them cheaply - the FCA would be restricted to buying them from only one place, THEM.
    Get the idea?

Sometimes the little guys win. 4 years ago I beat Microsoft - didn't go to court, they backed off and settled.

I'm no lawyer, but I reckon that it would have to be heard under Australian law - and that might be different enough to make a difference. We need an IP & copyright lawyer....

Another option is to declare us the western island of NZ & join the Kiwi club.

the trouble is that the crap you order from Ferrari COMES from China !!!

I ordered some stuff for my grandson only wanting the "proper" Ferrari kit only to find the crap is made in China .

If they want to rip me off then make the stuff in Italy !!!

I'm getting pretty anti-Ferrari about this rubbish, I know they make most of their money from merchandising but to penalise the clubs that promote their product is ridiculous

get ACCC and the media involved.
FFs what about all the free PR they get from the club.
Time to burn the yellow and red shirts and the caps.
What about a demo at the GP next year or a Demo at the local caryard that flogs the 'look at me look at me brand"

    Not yet, Gil.

We still have a registered name, with continous use since 1998.

That's a big hurdle they (SPA) need to leap.

I was thinking if I bought a car in the UK,to do the MM retro, but i've been informed it needs if its pre '81 a SPA certificate!
Well you just watch 'em take control of your prestige events, meaning a car will need a certificate to enter the event!
You should stand united and tell 'em to get stuffed, call there bluff.
As JM said its a registerd name for well over 10 years.

and they will then put their money into their National Rally..........and who do you think the punters will follow?...........they will back the factory

the old stayers will stay in the current system however new owners will move to the alliance of new world order.......Ferrari SpA

do ya reckon not getting 30k from the distributor/ and or dealer hurt the rally in SA.....you betcha, and as it seems those that voted no......well why didnt they turn up to support the SA event? they got what they wanted and they still didnt bother attending

maybe, they still have to run there own club.
Tell 'em that your changing the name of the club and let 'em set up there own club.
Plenty of other car clubs run national rallies without the aid of the factory.
FFS i thought it was the Ferrari CC not the Hillman minx CC.
All big timers, tip in a few extra dollars for the rally.
i one know thing few of the carby guys would want to be involved in such a club.
What a HORN club it would be a few dozern modern Ferrari cars and a few red T/shirts.
    Pure HORN.

as they sell each new car they would be saying part of the purchase price gets you admitted to the club........and they could pressure the dealers to do it with used cars as well.

From what I understand "Ferrari" is a Word Mark. The only thing about the word mark 'Ferrari' is that Ferrari owns the script it is written in. (At least that's the deal here in the USA) If you are using their 'Ferro Rosso' Script then you are infringing on their mark, if you are simply implying you are a club of 'Ferrari' Enthusiasts no harm there and Ferrari has no claim. The prancing horse and shields are also protected marks Ferrari owns. If you are using their script and logos without permission you will have a problem. If you do not play their game they will 'Lock' you out (I understand this is the case with the FOC in the USA).
