Ok, I'm bored waiting for my 86 TR to get through the major service so I can drive her for the first time. So I got to thinking it might be fun to put together a playlist of mid 80s songs that were big hits during the early TR years (let's say 84-88). Then I gonna burn it all to a CD and load it up in the car for the maiden voyage (probably next week at this rate). I know, I know, I should just listen to the exhaust ... call me a sentimental child of the 80s. How to play: - Add no more than 3 songs to the list - Songs have to capture the essence of the 80s & the TR - No Winger, Chaka Khan, Wham!, ... you get the picture Here we go: Obligatory 1. Miami Vice Theme - Jan Hammer 2. Crockett's Theme - Jan Hammer Righteous TR Tunes 1. I Can't Drive 55 - Sammy Hagar 2. Get it on (Bang a Gong) - Powerstation 3. California Girls - David Lee Roth
Here is my input.. Lets start with classic Van Halen: Song 1: Mean Street - Just crank it.. Song 2: Unchained Song 3: Aint talkin bout love Something about when its cranked hearing the exhaust tones behind in the back round.. Ripping thru the gears.. Good time to get test pipes and new muffler if needed.. R
1. I Want a New Drug- Huey Lewis/News 2. There's Only 1 Way to Rock- Sammy Hagar 3. Bad to the Bone- George Thorogood/Destroyers
No Easy Way Out - Robert Tepper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FOb9TRmt7Q Wow, very obscure but I like it.
Smooth Operator - Sade Once In A Lifetime - Talking Heads Sweet Dreams [Are Made Of This] - Eurythmics
I can't remember anything from the 80's (that I liked) that would be fitting for a TR. One from the 70's though, Easy Livin' by Uriah Heep The lyrics are fitting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKxZY0DIxIk This is a thing I've never known before, it's called easy living. This is a place I've never seen before, and I've been forgiven. Easy living, and I've been forgiven, since you've taken your place in my heart. Somewhere along the lonely road I had tried to find you. Day after day on that windy road I had walked behind you. Easy living, and I've been forgiven, since you've taken your place in my heart. Waiting, watching, wishing my hard life away. Dreaming, fainting, ready for love every day and some easy living. Somewhere along the lonely road I had tried to find you. Day after day on that windy road I had walked, walked behind you. Easy living, and I've been forgiven, since you've taken your place in my heart. Easy living, and I've been forgiven, since you've taken your place in my heart.
I'm loving it...especially all the awesome Van Halen stuff...bringing back the memories for sure. I wonder if I have any of my old VH cassettes around. I love the fact that my TR has cassette holders in the center console - that made me smile. Keep it coming!
