I have been (or more to the point, the car has been) invited....as I'm still on P for circuit and there are not enough events between now and then I will wait it out until 2012 (if the race is still on in Melb)

I'm guessing most of the local members felt they can and do get together any time they like for a drive or a feed in and around Adelaide.

I understand that but why would they bother being in the club when like minded people gather to admire and enjoy the product?

I don't understand all this SpA stuff.

So do you mean we can't even put a Cavallino emblem on a trophy for say a FCA club award/trophy ? Where can something like that affect Ferrari Spa. It's not exploiting the marque - conversely, it's anointing the marque.

I reckon we should try and channel (or get John Edward involved) Sir William Lyons up there in Heaven to have a quiet word with Enzo Ferrari to lean on the SpA mob.

Dr Ferdinand Porsche could act as a witness/go-between with EOI by Rolls and Royce to add credence to the act.

Henry Ford might also lend his support.

    Divine intervention is sought NOW.

Maybe, these kinds of strong arm tactics will work (and maybe they won't) but this is typical of the kind of bluster in the opening gambit of any legal letter. If someone didn't expect this sort of corporate response from Ferrari Inc., they hadn't thought the issue through.

It doesn't change anything. Ferrari can rightfully stop people from using their copyrighted property (as others have pointed out earlier) but they probably cannot stop a legally constituted group of enthusiasts from using their legally registered name in this country. Certainly, the press (and hopefully, the courts) would take a dim view of them trying.

Ego will prevent any easy acceptance of someone else possessing a name that Ferrari Inc. feels it owns by divine right, so this letter is likely to be the first shot in a geurilla war to split the membership. "Loyal' supporters of Ferrari Inc. can then gain control and pledge allegiance to the corporate machine.

Ferrari Inc. has become a caricature of itself - witness the monument to bad taste that is "Ferrari World" (in Abu Dhabi). Ferrari Spa. was never a shrinking violet, short on arrogance, but at least it had style.

The club members will eventually vote with their feet one way or another. I just hope that those who like the new order do it now and join a new Ferrari Inc. sponsored club. They could even have a National Rally at Ferrarworld with Fernando & Phillipe (or whoever replaces him).

The rest of us can lament the good old days.

    Is FCA incorporated?
If yes then if so,just let SPA spend the money winding it up at there expense rather then the club, just move on and incorporate another company /name.
Fuick 'em let them spend the time and money.

    You got it mate!
You need to buy the trophy from the approved, licensed Ferrari dealer - as an FCA member they're offering you 10% off too. No joke, seriously, that's the deal.

    Seen this?

I've posted the USA version in the GENERAL area, because its a done deal, USA has caved in and Ferrari has their way offering only a member's 10% discount.
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305386

The Aussies still have a chance on their playing field and the outcome is not certain at this point, hence no 10% discount nor a kick in the pants.
    What say ye?
