Not many outside of auto racing know the difference between a spoiler and a wing.

So, you're calling Rob a whiner ? Seems that way, as he was obviosly wanting you all to let him get rid of the spoilers, well I suppose it's better than SRT mikey insinuating he was crying like a baby! Obvoisly Rob's had enough of the hassle of dealing with spoilers and I agree with Rob.

"Keep it as is" seems to be the choice, even when the administrator of this forum more or less is asking you all to make his life a little easier, you all don't get it.

My dislike of spoilers comes not from wanting to start threads, just participate in them.

1: after a race, I open the F1 forum and see 9 or 10 threads with titles that ATTEMT to tell you what is being discussed, this is needless IMO.

2: even when you're participating in a thread without "spoilers" in the title, race results can creep into the conversation, then everything gets deleted by Rob, why is this needed ????

3: No way you can tell me that you actually want to open the F1 page and participate with other threads when you haven't even taken the time to watch the actual qually or race that weekend, we should have this rule for you ? no way. And don't give me the "you have no respect for others" line, if you don't watch the race "live" you are insulting everyone who does, and you don't deserve this "respect" that you are asking for. There's no excuse for missing a race, not with live feeds all over the internet, make the effort instead of asking others to compensate for your shortcomings.

4: Why should there be rules which are only there because of someones inability to easily adapt to the situation ? Especially people who say they can't log on to Fchat without seeing the thread title on the right hand side of the computer screen ? If you log on, and look to the left hand side of the screen it's IMPOSSIBLE to read the thread titles ! You can EASILY scroll through the forum titles past the F1 section to whatever section you desire, of course if you're somewhat "challenged" you could just hold up a newspaper or magazine covering the right hand side of the computer screen, please tell me what's so hard about that people ?

5: as for anybodys argument for spoilers because they tape the race and just don't find the time to watch, sorry, IMO rules shouldn't be inplemented to help you, WATCH THE FRIGGIN RACE MAN ! That's why we're here isn't it ? So, you have time to cruise around Fchat but can't find time to watch your tape ? come on !

Rob, sorry man, I voted to make your life easier, can't see it any other way. And Ian, sorry if this isn't "pretty eloquent & impassioned " enough for ya.

See ya all next season, FORZA FERRARI

+1, I have only been on F-chat for 6 months and do not have any issue with the current rule. It does not bother me a bit. Much ado about nothing from a casual observer.....

Rob didn't bring this up to make "his life easier". He is one out of 4 mods on the F1 forum. The one mod who could have made his life easier because he is dealing with the violators of the spoilers rule, actually was in favor of the status quo.

These things are not about making the admin's/mods' life easier but rather catering to what the majority of users wants.

    I wasn't going to comment on this thread any further (the majority have spoken) but as you single me out, here goes;

Not at all. A thread popped up asking (again, again) about the rule, and I believe he started the poll to gauge reaction from the membership. Many folk had their say, and overwhelmingly voted to keep it the same. While Rob may personally disagree, he heeded the votes and went with the majority.

The "whiners" to which I referred are the small (as evidenced by the votes), vocal crowd who like to call "us" morons and stupid for wanting to maintain a rule that's worked pretty well since forever ago.

You must be looking somewhere different to me - There's always a practice & quali thread and a race thread. If something "significant" happened that deserves it's own thread, it really isn't hard to come up with a non-spoiling title that anyone with knowledge of the event will understand, while not spoiling it for others.

I don't think I've seen "everything" deleted - The spoilers get deleted (or the title gets changed IIRC?) But yeah, I've fallen foul of "unintentional spoilers" on occasion - More often in silver where it's not expected, but "**** happens". We all make mistakes on occasion. "We" simply don't want to encourage spoilers.

We beg to differ. Some of us have lives outside of F1 and at least here in the States it's generally pretty easy to not see the results. Not even all the races are shown live. And I guess I'm not a big enough fan to get up in the middle of the night, find a stream (that'll probably break pretty quickly IME) and watch it in a tiny window on my 'puter. I've done it, but prefer not to.

    Again, we respectfully disagree.

I only had one vote - Same as everyone else.....

Here, at last, we do agree! :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Anyone know why the writer can't edit a posted title? [For the same 15 (?) minutes as a post?]

Well, you might go back and read post #32, thats one mod who disagrees with the one you're talking about. Here, I'll post it for ya, see below.

    • Now you tell me that's not a Mod who would rather not have to deal with piddley spoiler rules.

The strong sacrifice for the weak, status quo, ect, I guess thats more palatable for ya.

Once again, see ya next season, FORZA FERRARI.

Agree 100 percent but common sense doesn't fly around here, these peoples lives are way too complicated.
