I am an Aussie ..... hey I bought a book 5 years ago on how to stop procrastinating, you wanna borrow it? I'd want it back tho, I havent read it yet.
With regalia, it's basically the same as the US - what it says that anything with a Ferrari trademark (and that includes the word Ferrari) must be sourced from Ferrari. Ferrari have said that in the case of a rally, they will only permit the club to locally source a polo shirt and and then put the club logo and the event name on it, nothing else (ie an event logo ) or other sponsors logo's can be used on the same item. Despite some reservations about the practical aspects of how this would work, I don't consider regalia a key issue with the proposed contract. (Im told it was a major PITA to get the items for the SA rally, not the fault of the local importer but simply Italy being "slow", despite the order being just for "standard" items, and being placed well in advance of the event.) I can't comment about them being "forced" in to an agreement - but they only signed recently...... and they have been talking to Ferrari as long as the FCA. What he does say later in his post is that the agreement they have reached with Ferrari is confidential -the US members don't know what the executive have signed them up to. I am amazed they got away with this. Ferrari tried on the same thing in Australia. One can only speculate why Ferrari want's these contracts kept confidential. A reason could be that the contracts vary from club to club (there is proof of that) and they don't want different clubs to know what concessions others have got. Another reason could be that Ferrari want's to minimise the negative publicity associated with the imposition of complicated and restrictive contracts on their owners clubs. M
I'm sorry Mike, but you have to get rid of that Avatar, it's too close the the Cavallino Rampantai. LOL. Wouldn't it be funny if the Baracca's family told Ferrari S.p.A. they could no longer use the Cavallino Rampanti.
LOL Don't think so,Here is the source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herne,_Germany My family comes from there, so I feel entitled to use it. Might make a nice FCA logo too. M
The USA FCA claims they weren't forced into this new agreement, but the only thing they got was a 10% discount at the dealerships. See below what the USA FCA President says they gave up, then draw your own conclusion.
so they've been forced to give up their old logo, that they've had since 1964. That is simply disgusting. Meanwhile, I can visit markets (and motorsport events) in any city across Europe, Asia and the Middle East and buy knock off Ferrari clothing. The stalls are positively groaning with red shirts, shoes, caps, knock-off watches, etc. There are a thousand sweat shops in China churning this stuff out. Where are the Ferrari lawyers? Oh that's right, picking on the people who've bought their cars for the last 60 years.
they were rolled !!! Two options here : 1. they were banged up the date and got scared of Ferrari lawyers 2. they made a secret deal (they stated it was secret by not revealing the details, yet it was a good deal ) and the guy making the deal for FNA got what HE wanted If, as they say, it is "just" an IP deal then fine, but what if they start to make rulings on who can and cannot enter concour ? What if at Pebble Beach when the REAL nitpicking comes down to the last point someone says, "hey, you don't have a classique certificate !!" ??? There's enough politics in this club without Ferrari themselves adding to it
