Hi guys. One of my F1 oil lines is leaking through the copper gasket when it connects to the transmission. My question is that of I remove the special bolt, do I need to bleed the F1 system? Do anyone knows what is the size of those copper gaskets? Are the gaskets at top where it connects to the power unit (part #14) are the same to the gaskets connectig to the transmission (Part #17)? Any time you open a hydraulic line, you risk introducing air and therefore you would need to bleed the F1 system. The F1 system bleeding requires a scanner in order to properly bleed all the lines. Make sure all the bolts are tightened to specs first, that might solve your problem without having to open any of the lines.
Yes, you will need to bleed the F1 system after removing a line, as fluid will drain out. It's not worth the risk of improper operation as repairs can be very costly. Also, the threads on the banjo bolts for the F1 lines have very fine threads that can be stripped very easily in the aluminum housing of the actuator if you do not reinstall it properly. This repair is best left to someone who knows what they are doing with the proper test equipment. This "simple" repair may seem expensive to you know, but any potential damage will skyrocket the price.
