Hello everyone, I need some help with my stereo upgrade. I currently had my local high end shop install a new Alpine head unit and amp with separates in the dash and doors and then 61/2 subs behind the seats on the ledge. The problem is that the size of the subs dont allow the seat to be all the way back and me being 6'3'' I need every inch I can get.

My question is has anyone figured out a good place for a/some subs to get some nice bass with the top down?? I dont want to change the OEM interior but still want some clarity. Any thoughts or pics?
    Thanks to all
    Chris

Which head unit did you go with. I'm thinking of of going with the Alpine 305S.
For all the purists out there, I still have my OEM Sony safely packed in bubble wrap. :)

Sorry, no place for subs on a 355. But who wants to drown out the beautiful 355 exhaust symphony behind you anyway! Car is way to loud to listen to music or talk on the phone. (I have a spider).

There are several threads in here regarding mounting subs in a 355. I have seen the passenger footwell, in the trunk, in the gap between the front of the tunnel and the footwell, and in a custom fiberglass console that mounts midranges behind the headrests and the sub between the seats about where the glove box is located.

I have 2 subs mounted where the glove box would go between the seats and wrapped in a matching tan leather... 3 way speakers in each door and an amp in the front trunk.

Seats fully recline and top works exactley as it should...
The only downside is I no longer have a glove box... oh well.

I would post pix but my car is currently in for a complete front end re-spray and 3m clear bra and she wont be back until after christmas....

I have a single 8" sub behind the passengers seat, works great.

I don't understand the guys that say you don't need a stereo in a Ferrari, maybe if the only thing you do in the car is drive hard but if you use the car for travel then a good stereo install will increase enjoyment of the journey, and when the valve opens the exhaust note is easy to hear. I love the stereo in my 355, nothing quite like having good music blasting while cruising along in your Ferrari.

You should get it now while you can. Those will be very hard to come by in 20 years.

You can run the black/yellow lead from the bypass valve to the brown mute wire on the back of the Alpine.

That way, when you hit 3200 RPM, your radio will mute as the bypass opens.

    That would be sweet!!!! :D

Although with my exhaust set up I'm not sure I would notice the stereo being muted... :D

Just for reference... My car has an amp and 2 10" subs in the front trunk, someone put them in before I got the car. They sound great when you are parked with the hood (trunk) lid up, but in the car driving down the road you really can't hear them. I have been struggling with the same issue and I think I am going to make some custom boxes and put a set of 6X9's on the shelf behind the headrests. I am 6'2, so no way the can go behind the seats. This is after I fix my starter issue and about 20 other things on the list...

you cut off the horses head....! lol....

I love bass but is there anyone with a "finer" result. I don't see where anything could fit in a 348 especially if you want to store the top behind the seat.

Thanks to all for the ideas, I currently have 6.5 subs in custom boxes behind each seat on the shelve, but they are deep and the seats cant go all the way back, that is the reason I am looking for something else. I may just get rid of the glove box and mount it in the boot and place the sub there. I really dont want to change the oem look of the interior. Thanks to all.

I think that you are still going to have serious problems hearing the stereo in the car. I took an amplifier out of the front trunk and it made a significant improvement in the handling of the car.

Take the advice offered above: "listen to the exhaust". It is the best sounding car ever made.

I had a hotrod type of car 2 seater w no room for a sub either. We took the glove box out, kept the panel and sealed it. Then created an enclosure for the sub that faced downward so it was completely enclosed in the passenger dash, you could not see it at all. It did not take up any leg room or seat back room and it added quite a bit of sound using the enclosure and the dash to collect bass. We added a small amp under the seat and crossovers all fit under the seats so they were not visible either and took up no cabin room. Nicely paint a recessed grille to match the dash colors and face it down youll never see it but sound is much better.
hope it helps. We used an 8" focal sub, it was plenty in the small cabin.

+1 or on the side of the console near where it meets the floor. The engine sounds great but on long trips it get monotonous and boring ...

We put a 10 inch sub in the front bonnet and a amp rack that was custom made. There is still room for your typical jacket and hat if needed. they wanted to do a full fiberglass sub between the seat and from the photos it looked like trash. So we had two 8"s put behind the seat and tweeters put in. The car sounds great. All in all it was about 1.600$ and that with a brand new kenwood cd-dvd deck and screen. guy here that cut holes in the console back cushion and put two 6"s in there looks a little tacky.

You guys want photos let me know i can post some up from my camera.
