Did you mention yet where the meeting place for the start is?
I am please to announce that the starting location for the 6th annual DFW Toy Run will be Boardwalk Ferrari/Maserati. Everyone needs to be there by 8:30 AM. Boardwalk is supplying coffee and a light breakfast. We will have a drivers meeting at 9:15 and then start grouping cars with the first group off at 9:30 AM. I am hoping for 80 to 100 cars so we will probably launch in 4 or 5 groups about 5 to 7 minutes apart. The run has not been finalized yet and will not for another week or so, but right now it is projected to be about 80 miles. I am still working on the police escort and hopefully it will happen. The restaurant will block off their west parking lot for us and we have the back room reserved. Here is a list of the toys that are needed or requested. Remember this is an inclusive list for Boys and Girls ages 2 to 14. So please dig deep so that these familys may have a Merry Christmas. Thanks to all of you for your help, participation and generosity. Well a problem has arrived with my scan of the toy suggestions. Let me do it another way and I will post in about 5 minutes.
Well that didn't work either so I will do it the old fashion way, so much for technology! SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS YEARS TOY RUN; BASKETBALLS FOOTBALLS SPIDERMAN STUFF IRON MAN STUFF CRAYOLAS/COLORING BOOKS BATMAN STUFF POLLY POCKETS iCARLY STUFF HOT WHEELS PRINCESSES STUFFED ANIMALS EDUCATIONAL GAMES NAIL POLISH MOTORCYCLE TOYS HELICOPTERS/AIRPLANES BOOKS DVDs FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES LEGOS LIGHT SABERS BARBIES MAKE-UP KITS FOR TEEN AGE GIRLS EAR BUDS/PHONES BOARD GAMES FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES BABY DOLLS Remember this is a list for boys and gils ages 2 to 14
If you wish to participate in this years Toy Run you need to contact the club you are a member of and place your name with them. If you are not affiliated with a club please e-mail me (not a PM) [email protected] and I will place you on the list. This is for map printing purposes only. For instance if the Italian car club of the Southwest has 5 members that want to do the run then Garrick will contact me with that number and 5 maps will be printed. If 3 additional ICCS members say they will be there by posting on F-chat but don't contact Garrick there will not be maps for them. This prevents the extra and wasteful expense we had last year. Now for some pictures to get the driving blood flowing. A few we took from the first outing. The Ferrari Badged Explorer did yeoman service Sunday as we ran the 5 different routes that are available. Once again we have done several runs in this area and I thought that like the fall 'Strade di Autunno' run I could mate two of them together to make one run. Well that worked--sort of and actually it didn't. So we did a lot of cut and paste to come up with a run of about 85 miles. The roads are good as is the scenery. The Thanksgiving wind must have stripped all of the trees in this area as they all were leafless as compared to last week when we ran the area. Next Saturday we will run the route that we put together this past weekend in the Ferrari to make sure there are no problems. If you are on the East side of the Dallas area and want to make a contribution but can't make the run, A tin Lizzie Affair is acting as a toy drop off spot-13529 Vargon St. Richardson, Texas, just across from TI on the east side. In addition RAC and the Boardwalk Auto Group are also acting as drop off locations if you can't make the run but wish to contribute to the cause. Thanks to all of your for your help.
A correction on the address of the Tin Lizzie Affair--it is NOT Vargon St. it is 13350 Floyd Circle, Richardson, Texas 75243--My apologies to Lucinda I had an old business card. In addition if you are in the park cities area and cannot make the run but wish to contribute a toy or donation Autoscope is also collecting for the run. The Autoscope facility on the south side is located at 6134 Denton Dr. Dallas 75235. Thanks to Nerces Mavelian and Steve Fordham for their help and participation.

I'm really sorry to say I wont be able to make it. I love to be involved but my new business is taking up most of my time and I'm moving which makes it even more impossible.
It is time to start getting an accurate count. So everyone who is the official with their club would you either contact me or put up a post with the number of cars and people for map printing and food acquisition purposes. The FCA currently has 12 Ferraris and 10 navigators In addition we have 3 other cars and 2 navigators Also Mike Luango has signed up as the first motorcycle I need to get some counts so come on people lets get a list going we only have about 10 days.
Carolyn and I went out this past weekend and finalised the route. It is 99 miles long and it takes about 1 hr and 45 minutes to complete. We will have to definitely have a driver's meeting because there are some tricky places and turns in this run. It looks like the weather will be very cooperative as the tempertature should be in the mid 60s and a bright and sunny sky. Here is the car count so far; Through the FCA 18 cars and 30 people SSR Fanatics 4 cars and 8 people Boardwalk 16 cars and 25 people <edit> 3 cars and 5 people RAC 15 cars and 25 people Safe 4 Now 30 cars and 50 people Mattman 4 cars and 8 people As you can see we have about 90 cars now and a couple of other clubs that still have not reported. So I sure we will have additional cars on the run. This is really shaping up to be a good run! If you have cars coming and are not on this list contact me [email protected] Now for the serious note. I almost did not do this event this year because of some of the idiotic driving maneuvers that were performed by a small group of illadvised throttle jockeys last year. The kind of nonsense that was exhibited by a small 'boneheaded' minority will not be condoned, appreciated or expected on this years run. I sincerely hope that those people found another run to participate in and I wish that group all of the luck in the world-because you will need it! I can assure you that on this run there will be no representatives from any of the racing teams 'scouting' potential drivers. In addition there is no prize for getting from the start to the end in the quickest time-unless you get one issued by a member of the local constabulary. I say this every year but this event is getting bigger and consequently we have to run in manageable groups of 15 or so cars. So if you are in a first group and do a bunch of STUPID things (like last year) you potentially ruin it for that group, the following groups and all of the time and preparation that went into the run just went down the tube because of your inconsideration. So think about that before you act. This is an FCA sponsored event so no driver under 21 will be allowed to participate. Enough on this note but I want you all to understand where I am coming from. So lets get a bunch of toys, show up on Saturday have a great run-there is some good scenery to enjoy and make a whole bunch of kids happy.

Nice shots Carolyn! Interesting that under that Ferrari sign it really says 10 MPH and the graveyard is in immediate juxtaposition. There was quite a bit of interest in the run over the weekend so here is the updated car count; Through the FCA 22 cars Boardwalk 21 cars SSR fanatics 4 cars Safe 4 Now 30 cars RAC 15 cars Nick B's group 3 cars Mattman 4 cars Tin Lizzie Group 5 cars If everyone shows up that is 104 cars - so that is 7 groups of 15. If each group is launched 5 minutes apart then we are looking at 35 minutes just to get everybody off of the property. Therefore this is going to require everyone to be on their toes and my former comments should be adhered to strictly otherwise we will have massive problems out on the run. For those of you who are still on the fence, if you decide to do the run after tomorrow please call me on my cell 469.235.5639. I will be out of town from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday night and will not have internet access. Thnaks to all of you for your participation and help.
Where on the site do I find a list of toys? I am totally computer illiterate so forgive that. Lila and I plan to be there on the 11th, weather permitting and we are looking forward to it!

Here is the latest car count and I have given up on the number of people. Through the FCA 26 cars Boardwalk 21 cars Safe 4 Now 30 cars RAC 15 cars SSR fanatics 4 cars Nick B 3 cars Tin Lizzie Group 5 cars Mattman 4 cars Rennsport 8 cars The car count is now at 116. This would be 8 groups of 15 every 5 minutes which would take 40 minutes to launch from Boardwalk. So everybody please be careful when we do this run. SEE MY POST EARLIER IN THE THREAD. All we need is one person to foul up and that could cause problems for everybody. NOTE: EVERY DRIVER AND NAVIGATOR/PASSENGER WILL NEED TO SIGN IN FOR THE RUN SO PLEASE GET THERE A LITTLE EARLIER THAN ORIGINALLY PLANNED SO THAT WE CAN TAKE CARE OF THE PAPER WORK. I have 100 maps printed and Boardwalk said they could print some extras so that might take a little time.
