Which Ferrari - modern day re-make?

    What if Ferrari took a page out of the Ford playbook and brought back a classic in current day production - i.e., the Ford GT. Which Ferrari would you want to see as a modern day production / or supercar?

    No use posting a poll...do you know how long the list would be?? lol.

    I think they should re-do the California and try to get it right this time. Front engine V-12 and top of the line. Along the lines of an SA Aperta with a working, folding soft top.

    What about a Lusso? Could be interesting....


    Or even the 308/328? Then again that may be too recent to really be ready for a remake.


    Either of these choices would likely be a letdown in a final modern version, but I think it would be interesting to see them try.

    I've been thinking what Ferrari needs in its lineup is a sports car. Something in the 2600 pound range, 3.0 litre, 300 HP, minimal electronics, geared for a top speed of about 150 MPH, about a foot less wide and about 18" shorter than the Italia. Something on the lines of the 246 Dino, the 308, Lancia Stratos...

    A) Sports car: It should not pretend to be a SuperCar
    B) 100 Hp/litre is just fine
    C) 5-speed gearbox is just fine
    D) 2600 pounds includes all fluids and 1/2 tank of gas
    E) no need for spare tire

    Cut the flab and get back to sports cars. A Dino 246 GTS remake would be ideal.

    And consolidate the 599/California into one car. They look the same, and Ferrari doesn't need three separate golf-club haulers.

    When I started the thread, I was thinking a Dino 408 GTS -- with a proper 4 liter, 400 HP V8 would be *amazing*. Interesting to see the number of Dino replies...

    I know, I know, all of the midengined eights that came after it were evolutions of the car, but. . .

    1. I'd love to see a modern 308, done in the same way (more or less) that Ford did the GT: very similar appearance with present-day technology in the engine, suspension, etc.

    2. Daytona coupe or convertible

    3. Dino, if it could be about the same size, or maybe just a little bit bigger to accommodate a more powerful engine

    The caveat for all three: No GPS, F1 shifting, cupholders, drive-by-wire, etc. Just a new take on the old design, maybe a slight facelift, a la Ford GT, updated mechanicals and power, but no electronic fluff.

    Not that it'll ever happen. . .

    A 512S sports racer, only modernized with a little more interior room. Give it a 7.0L V12 with 800 hp and it would be a barely street legal monster with huge downforce.

    I agree with the Dino idea.
    Small, light, agile, well balanced, 2400 lbs or less, 400+hp bundle of fun. In a nut shell something the size of a Lotus Exige, but with Ferrari styling and double the power.
