Where are the winding roads in Naples?

I am curious to know where Ferrari owners drive their cars in the Naples area for some fun in the twists and turns. Any suggestions??

Yeah... I was going to just comment "LOL" but then I remebered that Blake goes to school in Ft. Meyers, kind of close to Naples. Maybe he knows of some good roads. But Naples is south and on the coast, so good luck finding anything even remotely twisty.

 

dont try 3 oaks in the fort myers area around 2am... ask me how i just learned.

Thanks William. I have, often. Was hoping for something a little closer to the one in Florida.

Now Georgia is an interesting answer (as my teacher would say - many many years ago). Did someone out there have some problems with geography in school? But good try GuyI. Maybe the next one.

So does that necessarily mean V-12 makes more sense than V-8 on this side?

Where do/would you drive on the east coast or even in central Florida for that matter if you are looking for twists and turns??

As Peter said I do live in the area and commute for work also to Naples a lot and I don't really know of any winding roads in the area.

Try old 41 or aka 90 between collier blvd and 29. Take a left on 29 or right to Everglades city. Left on 29 takes you to Immokolee road. Left on Immokolee will take you to some nice roads, Camp Keais road and oil well. Watch out for the random state trooper and wild life officers. The earlier the better and less traffic out of season.

What made you think there would be any on the "Wrinkle Coast" ?

 

You go to Micanopy, Gainesville, and areas near there. Southwest coast Florida, is not much different than the East coast.

 

Florida in general is just not too good for exciting roads.

I have found a few near here in Lake County around the Minneola and Clermont areas, but there aren't many, and the twisty bits aren't very long.

Oh, and 'elevation changes' around here are pretty much limited to speed bumps and overpasses.

 

The most ex-"hill"-A-rating drive within a 25-mile radius of Orlando is Lake County's CR 455, going west to east. Start at the west end at State Road 19 then proceed east. This will eventually take you into Monteverde and Ferndale (where you really need to watch speed limits - small town revenue-generators) No fun to run it backwards. Follow CR 455 thru Monteverde, then turn right (west) on Ridgewood Ave, then follow south on Fosgate Road, cross under the Fla Turnpike, then right (west) on Old County Road 50. This will come to a "T" at Old Hwy 50 West. Follw this into Minneola. Stop and get a cold drink, etc when you hit US HWY 27.

North on US HWY 27 a short distance to County Road 561A, left (west) at the traffic light. After you pass Kamalin Ct, make a right (north) on next road, Jalarmy Road. Follow to end, a "T" intersection, Cherry Lake Rd/County Road 478. Make a left turn (west) and follow all the way back to SR 19. This is more or less, the one-lap of Lake County that offers the most elevation changes. Watch out for bicyclists as the hills are popular for people training.
If you are approaching blind hilltops or curves, sound your horn in advance! Seriously! Otherwise, you'll be peeling someone off of your hood or windshield.

I just did a route in the "highlands" of Florida (Lake Wales area). I am planning an arrive and drive in Feburary sometime and will post when I get a date arranged. I was wanting to setup a rally for the Ocala area but my Mom is having some issues and that has been placed on hold for now.

 

in Debbie's neck-of-the-woods is fun to drive when the orange blossoms are flowering. The most interesting roads sort of follow the "spine" of Florida, generally along the US HWY 27 corridor. Debbie...maybe put something together involving the Bok Tower attraction?

I will add that as an after lunch stop. The gardens won't be great at that time of year but it is still a nice place to visit.

 

I have done almost that exact drive quite a few times. So long as you keep an eye out for the cyclists out training, there is a fun loop - Starting at 561 and 455, follow 455 East to Ferndale - Turn right at 561A and head west back to 561 - another right to take 561 North back up to 455.

Repeat as necessary.

Once required mileage is achieved, take 455 west from 561 to Hwy 19. Turn right to take Hwy 19 north towards Howey In The Hills. Bear right onto East Revels Rd, and park at JB Boondocks Bar & Grill to refuel and adjust fluid levels as required.
