I am looking for a set of wheels for my 550.. My preference is a set of stock 575 modulars, but I am open to options. I do prefer 19" wheels. Any leads will be appreciated!! Thanks

Just be careful that you get the newer aluminum wheels and not the factory-recalled magnesium wheels. The newer wheels have notches in the back on the hub between the spokes. There are a few threads on the subject telling the difference between the two.

John- Note Allan's caution relates to the recalled 18" 550 magnesium wheels, which still turn up on E-Bay and other sources.

Oops. (My brain froze at the word "stock"; I didn't see the reference to the 575 modulars).

The 19" 575M wheels look good on a 550 IMHO.
I paid $6k for the set of 4 for mine a while back.
So, anything under $1500 per wheel is a decent deal.

There never seems to be any for sale when you're looking to buy a set. But then, 3 or 4 sets of them will show up on the market at a time.

I found these doing a google search but not sure if they are real and if they actually have them in stock or not. Plus $8k for a set is a little pricey IMO.

    Ron,

I've seen that link before. They are Chinese. They weigh more than the "real" wheels but my mechanic who has seen a set said that they looked good.

if the 550 guys would stick to their "own" modulars......;) maybe they'd be easier to find.

Yes, but aren't the 18" modulars on the 550 and 550 Barchetta even more rare than hen's false teeth? :)

Ron- Henry has two 18" modulars for sale, one front and one rear, I think. Unless he sold them. Harder to find than the 19" ones.

Thanks for the replies! Let me know if you guys see any nice used sets of the factory 19s out on the market. I am hesitant to go with aftermarket wheels due to quality and strength issues I have experienced in the past.

    Thanks

Ron- I contacted the seller on those wheels to tell him they were 456/M wheels and they could not possibly have been fitted to a Maranello. He said the owner was somewhat of a whack job and had 17", 18", and 19" wheels for his car and had the 17" wheels fitted because the ride was better. Sounds too weird even for a Ferrari owner, but that is what he said.

Those Chinese wheels are well covered in other threads here. They are also too narrow for Maranellos if you want OEM or wider.

Interesting wheel designs on their website.
They had 5 modular designs to choose from that fit a 550.
They don't look like Ferrari stock wheels at all, but would give the car a custom look for sure.

Here are 2 of the 5 designs.

Yes so I gave up looking for a used set and bought a new set of the 550 modular wheels. I like the 19" modulars but I like the 18" Barchetta wheels even better especially on a Nero Daytona 550. To me the Black 550s have a real muscle car look and the 18" Barchetta modulars conveys that feel (to me) better than the 19" 575 modulars. On the lighter colored cars, I think both wheels work well.
