While still a fan of Darth Vader and Vader-like cars, I have mixed feelings about the look of this one. Interesting they did the closed cockpit, like they hinted somewhere before. The more I look at the angled shots, the more I like the aggressive look. The straight on shots look a little wierd, though.
I am wondering how powerful this new generation of Le Mans turbos will be. From 5.5 L to 3.7L is a huge drop! This AUDI looks just the business, very teutonic-looking. Strange that just as AUDI goes to enclosed cars, Aston Martin does the opposite and will field open cars next year.
You are absolutely right, but it has been so for a while now. Years ago, the FIA abandoned a rule prohibiting any protrusion below the bottom of the windscreen line. Designers have been allowed to create very low cars since. They were also allowd to abandon minimum side for doors - look at the Peugeot doors!
Less drag = more top end. Plus, it looks better with a roof, minus the stupid looking fin down it's back. Also, was there a wheel size rule change? Looks to have much more sidewall on the new tires?
