A dutch Fchatter showed us this dutch article: http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2010/12/08/ferrari-458-gt2-komt-eraan But also the italian article: http://www.motorsportblog.it/post/12531/ferrari-458-gt2-primissime-foto-e-informazioni Image Unavailable, Please Login
I SECOND THAT!! CAN'T WAIT!! Risi is GUARANTEED a championship this year!! Nothing's going to beat that, it's just beautiful looking!!
Thanks for the post, I was just on YouTube two days ago, just looking around and never found that. Thanks alot, what a great car, CAN'T WAIT!! I repeat, CAN'T WAIT to see it in person!! Forza Ferrari! Mark
No problem, Mark. After the first pics turned up it was just a matter of time to see the first moving pics on YouTube. I checked today and accidently ran across this video...must be shared here, right? I can't wait, too... Greetings, Jens
Thanks for the pics. Don't know why the need for all the little vents on the front bonnet. Wouldn't couple of larger vents do the same aero trick and look better too? Also don't care for the way the nose/ front airdam looks either. Hope she is faster than the porsches!
One of the engineers from the Patron team showed me these pictures yesterday on his phone. He was kind of surprised when I told him these photos were all over the internet already.
Found some photos of other older Ferrari racing cars with lots of little vents on the hood. Nice to see the tradition carried forward to the italia GT. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That car needs some more door intake vents. It looks so boring without them. The entire side looks flat and very non supercar. The rest is cool though.
From what I'm hearing, final product will look a lot different. But, we'll see. Anyway, I've had a couple of conversations about the 458 GT car. The GrandAm version will be restricted to roughly 435-450bhp. Given that the street and Challenge versions produce closer to 600bhp, I find this odd. I mean, SpA is going to put 600bhp in the hands of relatively inexperienced and unskilled drivers and racers, and GrandAm is putting a de-tuned version in the hands of the pros? Umm, weird. I know they're doing this to keep the racing (both intra- and inter-class) exciting. I mean, we can't have GT cars beating the DPs, now can we? Anyway, I find this all a semi-perverse situation. CW
At the Ring we'll be restricted to about 435hp as well (GT2/EXP1) but IMO at the Ring that is wise as they really want to avoid a big crash during the 24. How much will a challenge 458 weigh? We have to weight about 2700 lbs.
Jim, Really quite surprised how heavy this is. Is this a kerb weight that also includes the driver? Seem very high! I've shed 180kg's out of my 360 and I know of a couple of heavily modified 360 Challenge cars in the UK dipping under a 1000kg's (2200 lbs). -T
