    Had a few words with him in Monaco many years ago. His drivers had obviously had a bad day qualifying. Anyway, he was quite a character.

    F1 will never be what it was. The personalities that made it so endearing and irritating at the same time are all disappearing.

    Indeed, a true character. He could sell an igloo a freezer, knew how to make a deal. An excellent character and a standout even in the colourful history of F1.

    Really sad news. Met him and Tony Dowe back when TWR had the race shop in northern Indiana. I still think the XJR14 was the best car TWR ever made.

    You can add "dishonest" to that as well, crook covers it sort of I guess. TWR put out some nice stuff though, brilliant engineer regardless.
