360 Alarm siren

Has anyone in the UK tried this part number in a 360 or 355 and it works?


In Europe there's an Opel/Vauxhall Omega part GM 09 231 886 BW that looks very similar

Managed to get a second hand siren off eBay with this exact part number. I fitted it last Friday and it seems to work fine. It gave a "chirp" when I connected it, but the red light continued to stay lit when I started the car so I assumed this was another faulty unit. It turned out that the alarm system goes into a "panic" mode once you change the siren, so I needed to unlock the car, sit inside (not sure this is mandatory!) and then hold the alarm fob button for 30 seconds. The car locked and then unlocked itself, the red light flashed fast and then settled into a standard flash routine. I started the car up and the light went out! Result.

By the way, the first time I tried the reset routine it didn't work and I was outside the car. If you don't reset the light first time, try again before giving up hope!

I still have to try the alarm to see if it sounds when triggered, but as it chirped when I connected it I have no reason to think otherwise.

The siren cost me £13 from eBay! This is good news for everyone who needs to replace their siren as it should save you having to pay £250 for a unit with a Ferrari badge on it.

It was a gamble, but at this price it was worth it. I need to test that the alarm goes off, so I'll do this tomorrow and report back.

The wire in the picture was cut from the donor vehicle and simply unplugged. The Ferrari plug fitted perfectly as did the fitting bracket and bolts.

Just won a red one on ebay today , not sure what I can do with it, as threads are confusing

Steve- This should explain to you how fobs work. You cannot buy one off E-Bay and program your alarm ECU to accept it, but there are other options. Not a simple subject until you understand it and then it is simple.

If you have, or can get, your original Alarm PIN, your options increase.

I won't be able to test the alarm until the weekend. I work late and I don't want to upset the neighbours at unsociable hours!

If you live in the UK you can get your alarm code from Mandy at Marenello. Just email her at [email protected]. She'll need your chassis number and proof of ID first.

As Terry says, you cannot reprogram an old fob. It has to be cloned and there aren't many people who can do this. I have a second hand fob with a specialist at the moment who is trying to set up a process to do this cloning, but nothing to report so far. There is a guy on this forum who can do it but it would mean sending my only fob overseas which would mean I couldn't use the car and I would risk losing my one and only working fob.

 

Not all countries chip when armed or unarmed. I think lights flash for all but not all have the same sounds.

 

No light flash or chirp on my Euro spec 2000 360M
