Very cool. Sure seems PRIMITIVE compared to the Space Shuttle or even the Apollo missions...

    But obviously effective.

Judging from the video cameras, those are pretty recent shots I'm guessing.

Helluva way to fly! Thanks for posting....

The Russians always did believe in KISS engineering.

As for recovery "We don't need no stinkin aircraft carrier".

There were 3 people in that thing? Holy cow. I love the little slide down one side of the recovery tripod thingy.

Its just wonderful that USA now has to beg rides to ISS after dumping $ Billions into its construction. Makes me so proud of DC

Not for long-- in case you missed it, SpaceX successfully orbited and returned their capsule last week.

IMO, it makes much more sense to contract lift to low earth orbit, and help build a commercial space industry.

If I remember correctly, SpaceX will only be used for cargo to ISS and is not "man-rated."

They will only be doing cargo at first (within the next year), but are planning to carry people eventually. They need a launch escape system first.

If you look on their website, you can see the various Dragon configurations.
