My kids both have apple products (an iPod and an iTouch)
I just bought them a computer to share (so they can stay the heck off mine!)

can iTunes service both of their libraries? - i.e. can both of their libraries be on the same computer?
they have some of the same music, but not all.

    thanks

Yes. Just merge all the music into one library. Itunes will prompt you for the password of the other music's account holder. You can authorize your purchased music to work on up to 5 computers.

They won't be able to maintain separate libraries, but can merge their music into one large library.

Sorry guys, the above comments are incorrect - You can certainly have two (or more) separate iTunes libraries on one computer (Windows or Mac). There's actually a few ways of doing it - Details here:

    Good luck, cheers,

Did they change it? I think I've done it before the way I described above?

IIRC, it's always been that way (Separate user accounts = separate libraries).

However, you *can* merge into one if you want to - Your choice. I'm also pretty sure (but haven't checked) that keeping them separate will mean that two "authorizations" are used - One for each user (out of the 5 for each user available).

To the OP - Separate user accounts does mean:

    - They've got to be a little "disciplined" and be sure to use only their own account (auto lock when idle is good for this)
    - When subsequently installing applications you'll often be given the choice to install for just the user doing the install or for all users - It will want the admin password for the latter, but everyone will have access.

    Cheers,
    Ian

One is 11, other is 8
they can fight all they want over it... just stay the f#ck off mine!
we also put pretty strict limits on their "screen time", which includes TV, iTouch, etc.

but I can see why you would be concerned!
