    This may refresh your memory...

I'm assuming they did not like the fact I replaced what I totaled with one of her sisters.

I'm with Progressive, does anybody have any suggestions on where to go?

    Hey Tony:

I think your car is at one of this Insurance Auctions now to be sold. If you had 61K miles on it than that's the one. Sorry, can't help with the insurance. I guess whoever owns it now and is trying to sell it cant get enough so it keeps coming back to a Texas branch auction for sale.

That's crazy huh? That's probably the car. I remember Progressive told me they had a buy bid on it of $22K which I thought was ridiculous someone would pay that, but whatever...I guess they're feeling the pinch now huh? Do you know what the high bid has been at auction?

I also totaled a Rolls Royce in August of 08 so I'm sure that don't exactly help.

Well, you totalled two cars totalling in the $100k range combined...

...and you are surprised that your insurance has gone up dramatically? Somebody has to pay for it and it's going to be you.

I don't want to sound callous, but that's what happens when you total two cars. They are not going to raise rates on the people that don't have accidents.

For all they know, you are going to have another accident soon and they are risk categorizing you accordingly.

Sorry to hear about your mishaps.

Pay 1 month and drive the thing into a tree. That'll show 'em. With your history,... they would never be able to prove you did it on purpose. ;)

Might be time for a toyota camry...

    I bet the User Name "TonyCAMRY" is available! :D :D :D ;)

Dang that's cold blooded. Bad thing is the Rolls wasn't my fault at all but the other guy had no car insurance so guess who paid?

I dunno what to do really because I love my car and I doubt driving a Camry is going to be that much cheaper; I mean really once you breach the stupidity rate which I'm clearly in, what's the difference in saving a couple hundred a month to drive a Camry vs. F car? It's not the car, it's the driver of the car that's costing me.

Thinking very seriously about dropping collision coverage. I mean $10K a year over the next 3 years and I've got what $30K invested into covering a $40K car? That's ballsy but hell...what are my options really?

A few more options I am sure you've thought about but just in case...

    1. Don't drop collision...raise your deductible up real high instead (and drive very f-ing carefully). That way you're covered in case of a big bill or another totalled vehicle.
    2. Switch carriers?
    3. If married, make your wife the primary driver of that car and get yourself a beater to put in your name?

    Tony,

If you are self employed you might consider insuring your car under a commercial policy. I did this for a while after accumulating several tickets.

    Good luck...

THAT IS AN AWESOME IDEA! Will it work though considering I'm going to be listed as a driver?

    Tell me more...
