We all know that many of the general public dont know one F-car from the next... they just know that they are "special" and cost gazillions.

....so which F car is the "best" or "most likely" to make an impression to a Joe Public neighbour?

Probably an F40, 328 or 355. Most easily recognizable as "Ferrari."

90% of people have no idea

If you put a 308 in the driveway the neighbor would go "Wow!"

If you put a Testarossa next to the 308, the TR would get the "Wow!"

If you put an F-40 next to the TR, the F-40 would get the "Wow!"

If you put an Enzo next to the F-40, the neighbor would go "Wow, four Ferraris? You're fkn rich! Can I borrow a few thousand bucks?"

I have parked everything from a vintage Ferrari up to recently a new 612 in my driveway many times. The biggest "wow" factor was a 30k mile nice red Testarossa that I was putting drive time on to make sure we got all the air out of the coolant system after a major. The neighbors literally told me "wow." Most of the others (25 different versions) have been ignored.

    So the Testa wins here.

The reactions that I've observed myself from Enzos are second to none. The doors have a lot to do with it I think. I would say that the F40 is probably next on the list.

The loudest looking car, stylistically, would attract the most attention. Testarossa, F40, or F50 with their over-the-top styling cues make heads turn.

Any red Ferrari with headers and straight pipes would make my neighbors say "wow". Then they would say "kill him". (joke)

I've had a lot of different exotic cars in my driveway (and on my front lawn). Most of my neighbors can't tell one from another.

    Probably TR or Enzo.

Most people don't know anything about cars, especially Ferraris. I was fueling my 430 spider at the gas station a month ago and a guy asked me if it was a TR. I didn't bother telling him TRs haven't been built in almost 20 years.

My Mondial Cabriolet got more comments than any other Ferrari I've owned, for whatever that's worth.

It's all about the badge these days. The whole Gallardo/360/F430 run look basically the same unless you're an expert. The 550/575 is very conservative, and the 599 needs shields to stand out as being a Ferrari. (I like the 550/575, but if you're out to make a statement it would need to be a loud color...)

I recall a Fifth Gear program on the favourite Ferrari top 10 list in Britain, and the TR took top spot, with the 308/328 in second or third spot. Those are the last really daring Ferrari road car designs. Of course an F40 would blow everyone away -- it has credentials in any way you can think of. Octane picked it as the most important car of the '90s, IIRC.

Driving my 328 (which is the Camry of Ferraris ;)) last summer, I heard a kid exclaim, "Holy ****! A Ferrari!".

On the other hand, when I drove my old Alfa to the office in MA, one guy asked if I'd traded the Ferrari for "another exotic"..

Short of a Can-Am or Prototype racer or open wheel car, pretty much anything with a prancing horse will get about the same response:
Half won't know what it is, and most will assume it's a kit car. ;)

I bought it to drive, not to be seen in.
