Most Countach owners I know, myself included, actually have the opposite concern. We are afraid of our cars becoming too valuable to drive on the road because that might detract from the driving experience. What good would it do me if my car was worth a million dollars if I would never sell it? I'll get my money the same way I got it the first time, not from my car.
I think the problem is you need to distinguish the difference between a "Countach owner" and a "Countach enthusiast". Of course it's best when you can be both!

    Beautifully stated!

The misguided generalizations about the people who actually own the cars, the unrealistic theories about how far and how often they are supposed to drive their cars, and the silly assumptions about what their preferences are supposed to be only speak volumes about those that offer these errant thoughts. The choices and feelings of those that actually own the cars are always legitimate for them, and are as diverse as the number of cars that exist.

in addition to a "Countach owner" and a "Countach enthusiast", you will allow also some "Countach investor/speculator"... as I've noticed quite a few times recently !

Thank goodness for them too, they've always helped give the cars long-overdue value. So far as they dont tell the owners how to own their cars!

Not sure about anyone else but I always make sure to put on my white patent leather shoes, blue leisure suit, large gold chain with matching belt buckle before embarking on a nice cruise. Proper attire is an absolute must when slipping behind the wheel of an LP400 or LP400S. Somebody needs to keep the stereotypes going...am I the only one :)

Screw the polyester and the patent leather... if I ever get the opportunity to own one, I'm gettin' me a Wolf F1 Team shirt, some Ray Ban Aviators, a teeny-weeny steering wheel and I'm gonna go 100mph everywhere I go.

    WAAAHHHHHHHHH *snik* WaaaAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH *snik* WOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

The Swedish candy apple red one (ABBA owned?) that I had in mind was not the same one as the the silver one that was later repainted red?

I have never seen any proof of WHICH Countach ABBA owned in the 10 years that I have heard the story that they owned one. That doesn't mean they didn't own one, but most megastars who owned a Miura or a Countach found it impossible for that fact not to be well-established beyond doubt amongst fans and people who were connected with the car (techs, subsequent owners etc), and its chassis number is well-recorded against famous ownership. Apparently, not so the ABBA Countach..

A specific car that has an ABBA connection was a Formula One racecar in 1981, the ATS (Auto Technisches Spezialzubehör) driven by their friend Slim (Karl) Borgudd.

Slim actually played drums with ABBA’s touring group and that was the connection. ATS had been salvaged from Penske Racing in 1977 by Gunther Schmidt. He thought he could use an F1 team to promote his German alloy wheel brand.

This image is at Silverstone for the British GP.

Meanwhile we are still looking for the chassis number of the ABBA Countach! Anyone know for sure?

They have a swim once a year where the bishop throws a cross into the ocean and they all swim out to see who can get if first.

The winner gets blessed by the bishop.

We see it on the TV every year.
Not sure if it is a Christmas or Easter time.

I had my first phone in 1988. People were shocked and jealous.

Thank you Joe, although I have to admit to being guilty of it the 1st time I posted on this site. I thought you were a scheming wheeler-dealer trying to inflate the value of these cars to make a quick buck. I have since realized my mistake and owe you a very large sized apology. You have been nothing less than a gentleman and probably the most informed and enthusiastic Lamborghini owner out there. You crush the stereotype every time you post.

No worries and no need to apologize at all. It takes a long time to get to know someone. My goal has always been to be a resource and give more than I take. By the way, the values of the cars takes care of itself. They go up & down and there is nothing any of us can do about recessions. But make no mistake, I feel the cars deserve to be worth more than they were 10 years ago..
