I have been approached for advice on this car. Note that it has traveled 87,953 KM so far, and is really a project.
Joe is that the car that May drove in the lamborghini special of Top Gear a few years back, it looks very similar? There cant be too many blue moody wing lp400S knocking about.
No, May drove this car, 1121418, a high-body LP400S S3. This pic was taken befire the wheels were refinished in silver and a non-original replica wing was added. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Someone knows more Details about 1120026?For Example Where to sold it,who buy it etc. This Car was sold at RM Auctions London on October 27th for 196.000 Pound(225.000 Euro) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nicely-restored car. I had a client there to bid, but he would not go higher than 200 Eu on account of the fact that it was no longer in the original color. Here is what the ILR says: "First RHD built. Originally Arancio, changed to Rosso. Car in Palm Beach, Florida in the early 80's, registered on GB registration HPP 5. Then Essex, GB in 1987 and registered JYP 43 N. Sold to UK enthusiast who is restoring the car to classic yellow with brown leather."
Yes,a very nice Car,but I would pay no more than 200k too, since it no longer has the original color, over 5 owners and the second Interior-Color.
I can definitely live without them, but wouldn't go to the trouble of removing a Moody wing. Here is another type. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nah, I call BS post that misrepresents the truth. The fact is, the previous owner is married to this nice lady below, a classy lady, an F-Chatter no less, who as you can see generally keeps most of her clothes on in public. The lady in the pic you posted has nothing to do with the previous owners "enjoyment" of the car, or the car itself. If anyone really enjoyed this car to date, it was the first owner who used it for nocturnal commuting from Laguna Beach to Newport Beach to good effect. Lore has it that he often returned home with two passengers.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Huh??? I call BS. Don't say something I didn't say. I know Gary and Dee who is pictured in the Diablo. THEY ARE BOTH VERY CLASSY AND GREAT CAR PEOPLE. Like I said they enjoyed the heck out of the car and drove it quite a bit according to what Gary told me. We even spent most of the day hangin by it in chairs during the reunion and he told me he even drove it there from LV. SO PLEASE DONT MAKE UP ANYTHING OR TRY TO PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. GOOD BYE
Nah. You clearly tried to create the impression that this young lady in the pic you posted somehow had something to do with the car. Failed. Your exact post was: "Previous owner enjoyed the heck out of that car" with a pic of a half-naked lady sitting on the jamb and a smiley face icon. Dont insult anyone's intelligence - your intent was to show that the lady was connected with the car, or else you could have posted one of the many pics of the car at the Reunion or elsewhere, that exist without "Miss Las Vegas" in the image. I know Dee & Gary too BTW, a bit more than you do, having actually done business with them. The lady in the pic is as fake as replica Bravos on a non-S1 car. Everyone who has owned this car has enjoyed the heck out of it, so what are you trying to prove? LOL.
One of my favorite photos of 1038 is this one by ReverClothing on Flickr, taken during a 2008 fun run from Vegas to Lake Tahoe... Image Unavailable, Please Login The setting and photo quality reminds me of The Cannonball Run. Unfortunately, the photo was taken as the car was being cooled down after it began to run hot. IIRC, it spent at least part of the remainder of the trip on a flatbed.
Allow me to assist with this trip down memory lane. I even have the actual set of images of the breakdown and this very Countach upon a flatbed!! See below, fascinating. Thankfully, since the restoration this car runs at normal temperature all day long. Actually that last image makes for a great Before & After comparison, below. I will post more images of the car when the interior goes back to white, plus another epic photoshoot when it is finally complete.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Joe! I just now noticed that the USA side markers disappeared from the rear end during the recent restoration. Looks so much cleaner now.
Yes i have also just taken them off the back of my QV5000 88.5. We gave it a Euro front end treatment early this year. Now she had the Euro rear end treatment. Hopefully she will be back from the final restoration job late this week and i will post some pics.
You are SO right. But that's because the Countach is an angular-shaped car that consists of many interesting details. Any deviation from the car's original design is easily spotted by an enthusiast such as yourself and many of us, and it disturbs the way you appreciate the car. Side-markers are mods mandated by the USA government, but the mods that owners subject their cars to, creates the same disturbing effect. For example. Below you can see 2 Countachs. One black, one white. The black car is is a REAL Countach S1. The white one is not. But you can immediately spot that the black one looks right, it sits low, and the wheels look genuine. The white car on the other hand does not look like a genuine S1, although it wears Bravos. Then you realize that it sits too high to be an S1, or even an S2 for that matter. It is in fact an S3. As you suggested, and as the saying goes, "its all in the details".. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In this pic it looks like the car had too large front tires, might be from the angle but they look like 225/50 from the LP5000s/QV instead of the 205/50, which makes a difference of 2cm ~1inch diameter or 1cm ride height. So it's not only the suspension setting but also the front tire which had grown and made the 5l cars look higher.
One thing that drives me nuts about the USA sidemarkers is the variety of combinations and placements... ...might have the Euro front marker and the USA rear maker... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...might have USA markers front and rear... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...the USA markers might be on the body... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...or actually in the body... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...and the rear one might be here... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...or here... Image Unavailable, Please Login ...or here... Image Unavailable, Please Login ... or even here... Image Unavailable, Please Login Honestly, the saying "the devil is in the details" must've been coined for the Countach USA side markers, because this simply has to be the work of Satan. .
Those are recent pictures, indeed as pointed out it was once red!.. and it was tested by at least 3 Magazines over a 10 year period.. From supercar Classics in March 1988 to Classic cars Sept 1999!
