Best bang for the buck as far as "barges" are concerned,IMO: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-M-BENZ-S65-AMG-604HP-V12-BiTURBO-REAR-ENT-DISTRO-/330490108154?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cf2bed8fa
Infiniti Q45 with Active suspension. IF you can find one with a working Active suspension system, snap it up, get the maintenance done and enjoy a unique, fun, and invisible to police 4 door.
I'm sorry if I missed it, but was there a preferred price range on this? If it fits in your budget, I think this is just about the ultimate in bargeness: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-MERCEDES-600-LIMOUSINE-SUNROOF-/290498778209?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item43a3139461

My current daily driver is a 1997 S600 Coupe. Great car. Looks like more of a barge than it really is.

I'm going to pass on this one, a bit too far gone with a high asking price for what it is. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's one here with well 400.000kms on it. Mind you, the original engine wore out at 300.000, and is istting on a stick as a display, and the car now sports a 350 detroit mill.
Anyone have Mercedes W111 experiences? The lines are really growing on me, especially black with red interior examples.
Not completely a barge, but it's pretty rare http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140492197595#ht_605wt_1167 1989 Rover Sterling 827 SL
Old thread, but I've owned several W116's including two 6.9's. You mention 111's.... have you driven one? They're slugs by modern standards. May I suggest a W109 6.3? I've owned other 109's, but not a 6.3. A 6.3 is a very visceral, brutal car. The 6.9 feeld heavier and more fluid. Both are heavyweight prize fighters in Armani suits. I've got a lot of experience, so if there's anything you'd like to know about the cars, please ask. Some of the M100 motor bits can push Ferrari money, but it's all still available and there are plenty of spares around for reasonable prices. The rest of the car is production 116 or 109 so while it's not cheap, they are plentiful and bargains can be had. My advise, buy one that is sorted, clean, and just had suspension work
