Well, not really Pink Floyd, but the next best thing: Roger Waters presenting the Wall at the United Center. Yesterday and tonight. Was pretty full with lots of middle aged Floyd fans. I never saw the band, so this was my nearest experience. Was pretty good although the sound is better on CD (no surprise). Still an awesome event and my "concert of the year". PS: I can't do anything with hip hop/rap and was asking myself whether those fans will go to see their current stars in 30 years? I have actually have a brick from "The Wall" that was passed down to me by my parents that they got from a concert back in the day.. Sounds like a great show.
I've seen Roger several times as well as Pink Floyd without Roger, its too bad They couldn't work out Thier differences before the loss of Richard Wright last year.Nick Mason is a Ferrari collector from way back and is a regular at events like Goodwood.
Saw Pink Floyd when Gilmour resurrected the band back in the early '90's, Houston-San Antonio and Dallas, and saw Rogers' 'In The Flesh' tour aswell as his 'Darkside of The Moon' tour two years ago. Funny/sad story about that concert as I could have drank beer and played pool with Roger the night before the concert if I would have just checked my voicemail but he did send me a 13th row center section ticket. Saw 'The Wall' concert on Nov 20th in Houston and funny thing I found a video with me in it, does that mean I'm famous now and should get a drive in any Ferrari I want LOL?? I'm the cantaloupe head on the left with the glass's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDtDLSMr3wM&feature=related Now if we could just get the surviving members to sit down and iron out their differences they could have a tour that would top anything within the last 30yr's.
Doyle Jr. and Smokey White giving it all they have!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=invo5D6SuBQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o6wfmSaDic
In my opinion the best cut they ever made and a tribute as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAchKt2xjsw Spanky
Oh I almost forgot that I ordered this shirt off Rogers official merchandise website this past saturday. It should be here by friday but I do have one peeve about the ordering process, I overlooked the size choice and I'm getting a small when I wear extra large for comfort. Aswell they are closed on the weekend so by the time I got through too them yesterday they tell me the order is too far along to change yet it had not even been shipped yet!!! So much for decent customer service imo. After speaking with a manager though he did inform me that they send a return/exchange label with it so eventually I will get my shirt, next will be the program guide.
You mean Snowy White? Speaking of guitarists in Waters' Wall band, does anyone know if Dave Kilmintser is related to Lemmy Kilminster of Motorhead?
Your right I always get his name wrong lol. Oh and from what I could find no he is not and says that Lemmy has a different surname Kilmister- no n.
David was also a collector of Ferraris, he was handed the keys to his F40 the very same Nick collected his. Unfortunately he does not own any now. You are aware that David is joining Roger on one of the tour dates in England.
I met an english woman and her daughter at the Houston show and she mentioned that Gilmour would be making a surprise appearance at one show, wish it had been in Houston. Maybe just maybe he will make a dvd of that show?!?!?!
Strictly imo I think 'The Wall Live in Berlin' was the most spectacular show I have ever seen and nothing comes close to comparing to any Pink Floyd concert. For the Floyd fans here who have not seen it I highly suggest you add it too your collection. Amazing and to think the head count was estimated at over 1M simply because the gates were let down because of the number of people trying to get in. Buy the DVD and you will not regret it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acc_aK_bcRA
Yet you must agree though that since 'The Wall' was Rogers concept his tour is not a tribute band nor was it called Pink Floyd 'The Wall', right?
I hope everyone does not mind if I help continue this great topic rather it be Pink Floyd, Gilmour's Pink Floyd or Rogers versions. The following song imho is one of the best ever written: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMijMWQlnUc
