Anyone have experience with delubozparts cat bypass pipes for a 348? I bought a pair off e-bay new. They are great looking and look to be made well, but I am haveing problems with leaking on the rear around the compression clamp on both sides.

I e-mailed the guy and he is sending a second pair (without charge). I am worried they may not fit.

Any secrets as far a different clamp?

I have seen people use a thin piece of aluminum wrapped around that end 'under' the clamp as a seal.

That's a good thought. If the new set does not fit any better I may try that.

Those look nice. I hope the second set fits. Do you have a web address for them?

They have an e-bay store. They have a set on e-bay now.
If I could figure out how to link it I would. Search e-bay under ferrari348.

I will keep you posted. The guy said he has them on his 348 spider and they don't leak.

Is it fairly easy to install these?

I've been thinking of buying a set, but I don't want to remove the engine, and all i have is my car jack (no lift).

No need to remove the engine to install those test pipes or cats.

Simple. 4 bolts and they drop right out the bottom. The right takes a little wiggling due to the oil tank. No need to even remove the muffler.

Daniel has some nice ones at Ricambi. The ones I got were 1/2 the price, but I have had some trouble with them leaking around the rear flange. New set should be here today and we'll see if they fit any better.

I'd buy the set from Ricambi if I had the money (buying a mansion tends to drain one's finances...) and if he'd answer the e-mails I try to send through his site (suspension wrench). ;)

My Cat Bypass is from Hyper Flow. Been on the car a little over two years and no problems at all.

Been a while but they are on Ebay again and was thinking its sure is inexpensive, and that is why I have not pulled the trigger. I usually live by the rule of you get what you pay for...
And in California with smog checks being run by the Gestapo am wondering if it will pass emissions? Anyone know?

No, test pipes won't pass emissions, not even close in Cali. When I briefly ran test pipes I had to switch back because I got tired of smelling like gas/exhaust fumes after every drive. If a cop is behind you, they will know something is up, the smell is that obvious.

If the problem is that the pipes are a little too small you could take them to a local muffler shop and have them expand the pipe up a tick to the same OD as the ones you took off. No they won't pass emissions (no problem where I live) and yes you will get the raw (like a car from the 70s or a motorcycle) exhaust smell with no cats.

Thanks guys, but here is my confusion. They advertise them on ebay and I quote

"You Are Bidding on a *** Brand New T-304 Stainless Steel 2.5"I.D. High Flow Cats (Free Flow) With TIG Welding + Steel Flange as Show in Picture *** This Auction is for Pair Pipes RH + LH *** (Catless Pipes or De-Cat Pipes) for Ferrari 348 Spider / TB / Berlinetta + Mondial T 3.2L 89-95 *** These Cat Pipes are Inspected to Ensured Smooth Even Flow *** This is a Must Upgrade if you are Looking for a Free Flow Cat that will Bolt Straight to your Stock Exhaust System and Retaining Air Pump Function for Maximum Emission Reduction *** Compatible with Any brand Performance Catback Exhaust !!! *** This is a Rare Item / Don't Pass this Deal *** Must Have if you Had Tubi Exhaust / Unleash the Performance Potentials on your 348 & Mondial T *** Limited Qty's "

Straight pipes (had them) and you guys are right, in Kalifornia no way! Besides the smell of petrol is a bit much when stopped at a light, goes right into the cabin. And if a Police Cruiser is behind you, your cooked. I already have a stage 2 Capristo, its loud!

I have these on my 348. Purchased them from deluboz (on eBay) in January. No leaks but you can definitely smell the fumes. I emailed these guys before I pulled the trigger, asking about TX emissions testing. They guaranteed them to pass. I'm about to find out tomorrow, when I take the car in for it's annual inspection...

Why don't you email the seller and ask what you need to know? Deluboz is a member here. You could send him a PM as well.

I have them on my 355 and fit great, installation was straight forward, did not have to pull the engine or muffler just unbolt the old and install the new...In fact he has been advertising a polished muffler for the 355 at 719.00 it looks good I may give it a try.. (note the cat replacement have a small muffler like a glass pack so they are not exactly a straight pipe)

I did communicate with them and they manufacture them to look like Cats but are Test Pipes. So no go in California, besides the smell of Test Pipes is too much. My Car is loud enough with the Capristo Stage 2, but the stock cats worry me. Nothing wrong with them at this time, but we all know that they suck. We should look into a group by, either Hyperflows or ?

The Hyperflows should pass the sniff test, but since January 2009 it has been illegal to replace a ceramic core cat with a metal core cat on OBDI cars in California <source>. So it may not pass the visual, and it doesn't help that they are chrome plated and obviously an aftermarket part.

The stock cats are actually pretty good. They won't overheat if the car is tuned properly, and aftermarket cats don't offer much of a performance advantage, maybe a few HP, not anything you are going to feel "seat of the pants."

Gothspeed makes a custom cat/muffler sytem with larger diameter pipes that offers some measurable performance increase, and it sounds amazing. Vince has one on his SS and it was hands down the best sounding system I've heard IMO.
