Maine plate on an LP400 was a doubletake for me... lol... I know there is a Miura S in Biddeford, part of the Maine Line Exotics collections, wonder if this Countach is also...
After appearing in Monterey (first four pictures) several years ago I believe this car was for sale at Fantasy Junction.
DOH! I should have caught that... It does appear to be 0178... http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/806-Lamborghini-LP400%20Countach-4.0%20Litre%20V12
Oh ****, Richard Solomon. Guess he finally painted it. Years ago, during lunch, he gave this long explanation on what color and why. Have not seen him in a while. Nice guy. He bounces back between NY CT and Boston area last he said. But Maine? Originally orange I think. Thought he was nuts to change colors. He believes silver was theeee color that best showcases the lines and body. Though very nice, I disagree. Maybe Patrick can chime about him and maybe that day we all raced around in our Countachs
Would someone please tell me the names of different Countach wheels thru the years ? I wonder if 1971 Urraco wheels were the same used on early Countaches ? if so how are they called ?
Early Countach (LP400) used the same front wheels, but the rear wheels, although the same in design and look, were 9" wide. That rear LP400 wheel is unique to that rare variant, and rare. The front LP400 wheel is the same as the Urraco wheels. However, all the Urraco and LP400 wheels are being reproduced in aluminum (check ebay). But the original Campagnolo magnesium wheel is rare as can be.............
I can confirm that my front Bravo wheel is to wide for the Urraco. A Bravo style needs to be about 1/2 narrower. Very cool looking when I did put them on the car. Goota search for those photos.
Silver grey 400 Countach looks amazing! Something about silver on 70s supercars that looks just right...
Today, Santa Claus brang some very interesting magazine; Octane's January Number, you all know what is all about!
I am not getting this at all. I would like to undestand the goals of japaneses over improving the countach designs achieved looks. it must be more than what we are looking at. To me this does not even match an lp500 which I beleive is the idea when that 400 got "upgraded".
