Let's use this thread to consolidate important GFRT information, such as whattheheck is the GFRT. GFRT Board of Directors nominations are open (any other positions needed?) Commissioner: Dave Helms Technical Director: Obese William Robert Rules Bozo: Plugzit Eastern Region Czar: BCWAWRIGHT Western Cowboy: VVassallo Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, If you clowns are really serious about getting GFRT ferraris on track I'll start getting the 550 ready. It is the only car I have available at this time. It would take too much work to get a 355 going. So first race Spring Mountain? I bet since there are less than 10 of us we could get into race with Alfa Club or if people lack licenses we could time trial with several clubs. Anyone else want to get on track? You get a Helms designed GFRT sticker only if you participate.
BCWAWRIGHT: Titanium lugbolts are illegal unless you have enough for everybody! You lucky dog. VVassalo: If you 348C comes polished and shiny you have to polish everyone else's racecar on the grid Plugzit: Moonshine anywhere in the paddock is illegal including in your gastank or in your stomach Helms: You get a free pass because 100% of our cars will probably not start without you and we are going to make you work Ernie: If your car starts you get a 1 lap head start
LMAO......I'm in tears. One lap head start for Ernie is fine with me.....atleast he won't be part of all us old farts getting piled up in turn one....I can't let up off the accelerator because of my arthritic right knee...lol
We need to step back a moment here. Plugzit, I am proud of you quitting smokin, OK with you giving up drinkin BUT there need be some deep discussion regarding the new fashion trend... Change is good but you have to know when to say when, white socks under brown pumps? That is just embarassing. Mrs. Plugzit know about this? I'm not saying I know anything but I feel safe to predict our Eastern Still Master will have a difficult time with "Rules" generated by someone with a moustache standing there in pumps with hiked up skivvies.... just guessing here, he's kinda old fashioned that way. Leaving Plugzit and his cohort Vince in charge of the rules is like peein into the wind, no good can come from that, this will require further discussions. Fatso, Considering the group we have here, if any of these really run it will amount to nothing short of a miracle. Vince and Bruce might get their Red Sled to make stink but they will be tuning the "Drive Thru Window" map for the next decade. Someone will remind our East Coast brethren he is missing the wheel valve stems and that will require another 4 years to design and build them in TI. I am long on want but running dangerously low on Bailing Wire and working the last stick of Bubble Gum now. As it stands now I have to resort to scrap yard parts to glue this STOCK thing together. Ernie.... I don't know where to go with that. I have driven these in a limp home mode on 4 cylinders but don't know how they behave on 6.5 cylinders..... one lap, seems about right. The one I am worried about is Eric. He is the one that will show up at the last minute, check the oil, close the lid and hand us all our backsides while we attempt to recreate the wheel.
Well things could be a lot worse.....just imagine PAP in his high cut shorts standing there as a pit tootsie. ????????????????????????? I may be old fashioned but when it comes to winning I could care less about what the "RULES" director looks like...I'm goin to be cheatin any way...my moniker is "Catch Me If You Can".
Sounds like you evolved to the Sensitive, Caring, New Age GA Bruce... Turn over a new leaf or already cut some back room deals? Bribeable? PLEASE! YA THINK? That Motec system didnt fall from a tree.
What's next for you politically correct trend setters.....are you going to start building engines that turn both ways...maybe even padded tailpipes?
We will get our bi.tch POS running before you do. Hey Commissioner Helms, were you thinking of this for the Laguna Seca muffler option? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUP-444-2503/?rtype=10 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats what I did, not what should be done. That was a function over form, triage fix. Supertrapp makes a nice, short shielded cone that might work better. I was always worried about those burning the bumper but was all I had in the race box.
http://supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=63 This is what I was thinking. It's even "US Forest Service Approved", handy for the days where Bruce feels the need to go off road in the woods. There is a sales point to hit him with.
Holy sheit I didn't even think of that! You're right. We'd be leaving melted plastic in our wake. Hmm, now that I think of it, might be a secret weapon once we get to head of the pack with our secret super low gearing...
Never happened BUT I was always expecting it. I thought I remembered putting aluminum shields surrounding the tail pipe cut outs. Maybe it was something I was just thinking of doing... cant remember. Hey Plugzit, what injectors did I put on that engine? Memory has it I used different injectors between the IMSA and the 358. One of these days I will dig through all the old boxes and find some of the service history for that project. I know I changed them at least once.
Tonight we went back to the computer to tune the motec. We got closer to having it run, but still no joy. Something to do with the Motec trying to run 4 coil packs throiugh an ingition module extender. Geek stuff. The injectors are all light blue in color and we guessed them to be 32 lb. models versus the 24 lb. Mustang injectors I gave Ernie and he destroyed. Not really sure why something that huge would be in there, but the math says that they would be necessary for a safe duty cycle when producing over 400 hp. This sort of makes sense if you figure it was built for an enduro race with very low gearing. As for the Supertraps, we looked at the distances and you tacked on the plates far enough away from the lower bumper that they'll never burn with the smaller version. I might try them for fun. Didn't really want to add another 6 inches plus behind the car on top of the 4 inch tail pipes for fear of tripping ourselves when we tried to walk behind the car.
I am sure the old wise one with the Moose will get the smoke put back in the box. I have been thinking about those injectors. I believe those were for the Enduro engine and I just stuck those rails in when we were breaking in the engine at the track. They may well be too large and not easily tuneable with the new system. Just something to think about while setting up the Drive Thru Window Map. Get me the numbers off of those in a PM and I will see if they jive with any of my old paperwork. Functionally I think they will be OK... Ugly as a toad but functional and they got the car through tech at Laguna. Are there holes in the bumper for aluminum plates around the cut outs?
Maybe this should be our first event. Regardless of the fact that we may not be able to attract a full field or corporate sponsorship, we can begin to put together a schedule so that we know when we're not racing. It's New Years resolution time again and ours is more track days. (I've already given up on losing weight) The Basics: What: Our 16th completely random track day in a row - this time on the 3.5 mile full track layout! Where: Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, NV When: Saturday May 7th, 2011 How much: $189.00 per car Format: OPEN TRACK = 6 hours of track time! Yes I know it's 4 months from now but you know that's how long it will actually take you to get that car running again. FULL DETAILS HERE! SM is renting to the unwashed this year (that's us) so lets take advantage of this opportunity before they change their minds. The 3.5Mile configuration is the most challenging and interesting that they offer and not available very often since it combines both their 1.5M Radical loop and the 2.2M Main track together into one wild pile of spaghetti. FULL DETAILS HERE! Thanks and see you at the track. (please note that the initial mailblast on this event will go to everyone on the old track list from 2007 plus my customer lists in the states within a comfortable drive to the event so you might get it 2X. We will limit the mailings to 1X a month until the event is filled so sign up early and often!) -- Mark Johnson -- Dali Racing -- Adapt:Innovate:Overcome
