If you are removing all of this (wheels etc) just to change the spark plugs , I can tell you it is not necessary to change the plugs . I have change mi plugs twice from the top .
Yes TRUE , But in this winter time, you can do it a little more, and clean more things between, like wheels(from inside), plastik over the wheels and so and so look much better I will post photo with clean wheel and not clean Rock
Excellent work, very well done. You seems to be well equiped with a good lift. And don't put BMC air filters, keep the paper once. I never seen any performance gain with K&N or BMC air filters. They getting dirty very fast and you'll lose even power very quickly with them. It's only a waste of money and the only thing you'll get, for sure, is a high risk of MAF contamination and sucked in dust&dirt into the engine. I know so many guys who came back to the standard paper filters which are cheap and secure. It's worth to change them more often.
Hi Rock, Congratulation for your job! On picture "5" you writed " remove this, you have to unplug fuse to pull up" Why do we have to unplug the fuse? Ciao Dino
Hi Dino, Rok didn't mean an electric fuse but there is a small metallic strip that you have to pull out to be able to release the gaz strut from the chassis ball. When you do this, be carefull as only one gaz strut will not be enough to maintain the lid in a lifted position. What I do, is to add a stick which will hold the lid, remove the side panel and put back the gaz strut on the chassis ball, secured with the metallic strip so that I can work safely in the engine bay
Hi Stef, Thank you for the clarification, and many thanks to Rock to share the pictures of his work! I always did all the jobs on my old Ferraris, but i have a lot of thinks to learn on "modern cars" and a thread like this one is welcome! Dino
My point exactly better check twice to put something between lid and chassis FUSE -Again, sorry for my english not electric fuse
Hay again to all The new year is here and my service is back again. Yesterday, I change air filters and clean a bit...just a couple of picture of doing that. In the next few days, I will do the belts change AIR FILTERS CHANGE: 1.Unscrew four bolts on the cover of the filter 2.Unclip clips, which holds air intake to motor 3.Clean both the air boxes And one picture on the end, just to se the result of wheel cleaning It's looks so much better on the car when it's clean -recommended to all Rock Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The true spirit of F-chat .... selfless effort in sharing with others. Congratulations and thanks to Rock. Very interesting thread which I am bookmarking now and will no doubt refer to again many times in the future. Big thanks!
Rock, Before and After pictures ! Not only is that an amazing effort, but I think you have started a new FerrariChat standard. I can't remember anyone taking good pictures, adding labels AND before and after pic with such detail. As we say in So Cal "Dude, you rule" !!! Can't wait to see the rest of the job. Regards, Stew
This is so nice, Im going to print it out and make a service manual. Thank you ever so much for sharing all your hard work.
Rok- That is just awesome. Your photos look like an improvement on the factory workshop manuals. Keep it up. Great learning process for owners who enjoy doing their own work. PhotoShop is a wonderful tool if you know how to use it. BMC filters introduce oil upstream of the MAF meters. I am not brave enough to use them. Have at them if you are. Taz Terry Phillips
I notice that you like pictures and stuff like that, so I decided to put realy everything interesting on board Today I did something which is not realy so important, but it looks much better when it's done. I change position bulb to white one, the original is yellow, to me, looks much better Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice to see someone taking maintenance into their own hands. As a long time BMW enthusiast, I've always dreamed of owning a 360 which is why I've lurked on this forum. Thing that worried me though is would there be any DIY work that I could perform on this car as the price of a 360 gets into reach?? I've pulled engines, trannys, installed a supercharger, even removed my entire interior in my 330 to name a few. Are these cars that difficult to work on or is that backyard mechanics don't usually buy Ferrari's? I would assume based on the price of a Ferrari, buyers aren't the type to get their hands dirty nor have the free time to work on them based on their careers?
Not all career oriented guys are afraid to get their hands dirty. I'm very busy with my business but when it comes to get my hands dirty on my F430, I have always a very big smile You know, the F430 is a very easy car to work on. Everything is very accessible and all panels can be easily removed. The only things that drove me crazy were the quality of some bolds. I got some torx heads completely screwed up and it was a real pain to get them out. Now, I've replaced them all by some real good quality bolds I painted in the same colour as the guards. I have also a 330xi and this car is much more challenging to work on. With your experience, a F360 would be a piece of cake Once again Rock, your contribution to this forum is very much appreciated. That's how I always imagined a forum, an international space where some real usefull information is exchanged Thanks for your great efforts of putting all the pictures together.
I too am a career guy This is music to my ears....I read so many posts that lead me to believe working on a Ferrari is too daunting, etc etc. Haven't seen alot of DIY articles on the 360, am I overlooking them on this forum?
I have owned a string of BMW and Mercedes and they have all been much much harder to work on than my 360. As noted above, everything is very easily accessible and the car really is a pleasure to work on. Check out the Technical Q & A forum in addition to the 360 / 430 also for additional DIY threads and invaluable source of information and advice.
This is so nice to hear, I dont have a 360 yet but soon, and I plan to do a lot of things myself together with my father (72 years) who has served his own cars all his life. I also plan to include my youngest son. So this will be a real family affair.
You won't be disappointed! Everything is right there in front of you on a 360. Want to remove the door panel? Easy - see those 8~10 Allen key bolts, just unscrew them and reveal the inner. No hidden fragile fasteners just good old fashioned nuts and bolts. It's like playing with Meccano! ...... and if and when you encounter a problem the answer in invariably only a few clicks away on this forum! Jump in you'll have a ball!
Nice work Rock! Great to see all the pictures. Question: I want to remove my front bumper. I don't have a lift though. Can I remove the front bumper without having to lift the car?
Man, I Love this Forum!!! You guys Rock and I just enjoy checking this out nit to mention I'm about to do my plugs...lol, Just in time and Rock you answered all of my questions. I will however be the changing from the top ;~)
