Had to start the car. Let it run and breath for about 30 minutes and put her back in the garage on the tender. F#$(KING snow. anyone else just miss smelling exhaust? Nd paul
Aw, c'mon now Paul! Don't be such a girlie man!! ;-) I just came in from the barn where I have about six car projects going. You gotta appreciate winter for all the quality "wrenching" time it affords. I really enjoy going out there with a thermos of hot tea, turning on the sound system with some good tunes and taking stuff apart. Today I found myself hoping for a long snowy winter so I can finish all the suspension and brake work I have lined up. Without our Chicago winter I'd never get anything done!
very true, I started stripping some interior parts today in prep to ship them out. Finished the sound wiring a few weeks ago. Removed the seatbbelt mice and the ECUs, so thats done. Guess I need to find some rotors and pads to work on soon. Hoping for the 50s they promised this weekend to stretch her legs a bit! paul

Please don't use the word "mice" when talking about Ferraris. My biggest fear is that one of the little buggers finds his way into the barn and takes up residence in the Dino.
I too started the Speciale last weekend. I satisfied myself with repetitive laps around my driveway while my daughter timed me.
This weekend will be a good time to start my 328 because it will be warmer. I'm going to keep the garage door closed to keep in the sweet smelling exhaust. I think 30 minutes should do it.
While my garage is too cold to work during the winter and my mechanical knowledge rather limited, I do enjoy working on my other car: The virtual racecar in my living room. Every winter it gets a major work over with the latest techno gadgets, which also requires of course a lot of test driving. The 308 for the summer, the F10 for the winter.
You're doing more harm than good doing that. If your not going to drive it until oil temp comes up to normal operating range, don't start it! You're just adding contaminants to your engine and exhaust system that won't be burned off. Idling the engine for a great length of time can also wash the cylinders of lubricant, causing excessive wear on the rings and cylinder walls.
Didnt know anything like that. I do get it up to running oil temps etc. I guess Ill have to drive it! p
Yesterday was great, cold air, dry pavement and no salt! Got to stretch her out a bit, loved it. Felt so much better pulling it back in to the garage! nd
