Am now at Level 14. Was wrestling with the Top Gear challenge event with the Lotus - took a lot of attempts to get gold at it. :)

    That beats me.

I wonder what happens once you clear the third challenge

I so want to beat the Stig on it but can't do the Lotus challenge :(

Speaking of the Lotus challenge, when do you unlock the Top Gear test track?

I think you need to gold all 3 events.

Nope, just gold the first one with the samba bus and you get the test track in practice and arcade modes.

The TG lotus challenge is a bit of a farce... the lines are easy, but the car is on the edge 100% of the time while braking, and 70% of the time while navigating to the follow through. I gave it a temporary rest when I got 3rd place 2 or 3 times in a row. The Kubal Wagon challenge is actually pretty fun ;)

I haven't check to see if the track is unlocked or not...

Let me try to help you:

I assume you are using a wheel and not the controller - you need the pedals to give you additional stability while braking and accelerating.

Two things makes this track difficult - the Lotus is an edgy car and the driving lines proposed by GT5 will make you brake and corner at the same time which worsens the problem.

So what I did was try to use a different line that allows as much of the braking as possible in a straight line.

Turn 2 (the first left turn) is particularly tricky - here I braked a moderate amount on the straight, downshifted to 3rd gear before I turned in. Turn in early and give a few healthy stabs at the throttle after turning in - this will counter the oversteer. The line I took was about 10 feet to the left of the proposed line. Now you do the final bit of braking again in a straight line and downshift to second just before exiting the corner. If done correctly, you would have overtaken the white car and draw up close to blue car by now.

I manage to overtake one or two cars by braking later into hammerhead and out accelerating one of them by using 2nd gear instead of the suggested first gear by GT5). Again this will reduce the wheelspin and oversteer on exit.

I used the same tactic in Chicago - the corner before hammerhead. BTW you can cut the cone here without penalty - can easily overtake 1-2 cars on entry of the corner

You can overtake at one car on the exit of follow through.

The AI cars outbrake themselves into Bacharach and Gambon. - you can easily pass one car per corner.

I started 12th on the grid and was 4th at the end of the first lap. Overtaking the remaining 3 cars was easy afterwards.

I went through a lot of attempts to figure this out - I frequently got DQ'd for bumping someone or touching cones or some curbs. :)

Had a lot of fun here though - my hands were working like pin wheels doing the opposite lock. :)

I golded all 3 of the Top Gear Challenges awhile ago and it wasn't easy. It took me a solid week of attempts between the Samba bus and Lotus using the 6-axis controller. It was a frustrating challenge but eventually I learned the track and how the AI drove it. Learning where and when to pass the AI is key. You should be in 5th exiting Hammerhead and if your aren't then just restart the challenge. There are several Youtube videos on how to win these events, watch them, they will help.

The Kubal Wagon Challenge was by far the easiest of the 3. I won it on my second attempt.

Looks like I'm going to have to redo the samba bus event, I couldn't agree more it's a massively boring challenge. The Lotus event was a pain in the arse, settled with 3rd after multiple attempts & tweaking the car. Kind of odd how simple it was to get gold in Kubal Wagon challenge but off all the events it was the most fun.

I didn't realize you needed the Kubelwagon - I sold the slug on the first day itself to buy another car.

Well, I gave birth to another B-spec driver last night. 1st, I put him in the BTR and gave him a shot in the German car series. He was all over the road, could not control that thing for the life of him. Canceled out of that race, stuck him in the Zonda R, and put him in the Euro series for a few races. Won that very easily, and watched his rating grow rapidly. I then stuck him in the Chaparal for the Indy race in the American series, and he won a few of those too. In skill and strength, he has almost caught up to my 1st guy, just lacks the experience.

I then put my first driver to work on a few no brainers, and got his rating to level 24, so I can finally buy the Formula Gran Turismo car and finish off the remaining 2 series.

    This game is like heroin!

No worries, you're given the use one for the challenge but the one you sold could be used later on for the online events.

Note to everyone else: Do not sell off all your cars, you never know what you might need!

Exactly! Credits are VERY easy to come by in the game. I also don't understand why people are excited when they've won every race w/out buying any cars... GT's used car lot gets interesting vehicles in it every day :)

I only sell off my duplicates, the ones that I do not want. I've kept most of my prize and gift cars.

I just entered my Minolta into the Dreamcar Championship and I annihilated the competition.
I had the lead by the first turn and then I began lapping the field on the 5 lap! By the end of the race there were only 3 cars on the lead lap. :)

Don't know if there's a username list for this so I figured I'd start one so add on as it goes.

    Username:
    GumballCGT - GumballCGT

-Also, does anyone know if it is possible to keep a paint code or somehow cheat the system so I can keep painting my cars with the same color?

If anyone wants an X1, just post your PSN and I can duplicate one for you.

Also, we should really get an Fchat racing league going. I'm willing to set it up if people are willing to participate.

I'll send a friend request your way and send the car after my B-Spec driver finishes an enduro.

Involves copying a save to a flash drive, then deleting main save and copying the copied save into your main game save list.

Also, I can only send out 1 per day. Tifiosi12 will get his today, kizdan you will get yours tomorrow and so on in the order in which I get the requests for the car.
