Despite his colorful history, Mosley does seem to periodically make valid points. Thankfully Todt is in his position, so the politics that burdened the sport do not seem to be existent at this point.

Because they know he still wants the attention and that he's guaranteed to say something that will provoke a reaction from others that will allow the story to become bigger than it deserves to be!.

 

It is interesting to hear that RedBull is asking for an exception to this, it is not interesting to read anything said by Max.

I don't see how what Max is saying makes sense.


Why would RBR be asking for an exemption NOW for the 2010 (completed) season? Unless it's some trivial matter like they need to spend an extra $50k so they can go testing without having to wait until 1/1/11.

Max seems to be drawing an invalid conclusion for the purposes of stirring crap. I don't believe for a second that RBR would overspend and rely on magnanimosity of their competitors to get off while keeping the title.

In other words, Max is being his usual slimy self. The unfortunate thing is that any of the rags give him any airtime.

 

If Max was still in charge, he would probably fine them $100 million, causing them them to spend even more.

 

If you aren't cheating, you aren't winning.

 

I'd rather loose than cheat, possibly your referring too pushing the rules within their parameters, you know the grey area?

Mike, RBR actually did ask for an exemption as they did really exceed the agreed spending for 2010, so all Mosley was doing was stating fact. I don't know why as to the their timing, I have not read the RRA. But I would guess that they get an OK from Ferrari and Mercedes as they also likely exceeded the RRA. It is teams like Williams, Force India, Lotus, Virgin, etc, that may give the thumbs down.

Again I do not know if the vote must be unanimous, and I do not know the penalty if any. Why ask for an exemption if there is no penalty? Forgetting for a moment the personality involved, Mosley's budget proposal was much better than this strange system. If a team can ask for an exemption, what good is the system? Especially if there is no penalty.

 

If the authorities have no discretion they have no power. That's what makes this system "better".

You don't know F1 very well.
You can have rules, you can understand them very well, but those that follow the 'fact' of a rule and ignore the 'intent' of the rule usually do better.

 

Please reread my post as I think you missed something and after following F1 for 32yr's I think I know how the F1 game is played. No malintent meant in my reply either just for the record.
