Curt- I will PM you the US address of another person who can clone fobs, but you will have to provide your own Euro fob. I believe they have actually found a Euro Ford fob that works over there, too.

The alarm siren is common to all the models with the 3 fob alarm system. I had a couple of 355 owners who would not believe that and actually spent $500+ to put the old siren with the crummy battery in their cars. Here is a list of the cars the improved, $330 alarm will fit. Basically everything with Motronic 5.2 or newer through the Superamerica and 360 CS. Missing in the list is the 5.2 456, but it works on them, too.

I'm about to plunk down my money (always looking for a cheaper fix!). Does the annoying LED still stay on when the siren has been replaced? And do you hear any chirps when you lock the car?

Curt, Great job and thanks for sharing your information with the community. I probably wouldn't have taken the time or had the balls to try out the alternate alarm on my car but I applaud and appreciate your efforts. I'll remember this thread when my $330 alarm unit goes out in a few years.

I don't think I want to fix mine......... I don't want the car to go "beep" every time I lock and unlock the door. I seem to accidentally set off my alarm sometimes unlike I have ever done in any other car I've owned. so....

Maybe I won't fix it. Is there a down side other than I won't have an audible alarm on the car?

I have a 1999 360 and my light is solid red and I have no sound from my alarm, so I want to do this...

I just ordered GM part #15213135

    http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm-alarm-15213135.html

Where do I put it and how do I connect this thing once I get it?

    -Matt

PS - I can't believe I'm gonna put a GM part in my Ferrari. I'm gonna get smitted for this, I just know it!!!

    That's the deal.
    You open the front bonnet.
You remove the panel with the tire inflator on it. You probably need to remove the panel on the drivers side of the car covering the fuses and relays as well.. just for clearance. (3mm hex wrench)

The alarm siren is on the right hand side of the open compartment. You turn it to face it downward and unplug the connector. You then remove or loosen the 2 10mm nuts that hold it in (can be a tight fit with you hand contorted), one nut needs to be removed, tyhe other nut slides out on the groove of the siren.. you'll see what I mean. slide the siren out, replace it with the new.. plug it in and put the panels in the car back in.

Pretty simple. Takes about 20-30 min the first time. (Alarm may chirp when you first put it in.. )

One other piece of advice. The screws which are removed to take out the compartment covers in the trunk are of different lengths. On the advice a previous poster, I drew out a simple diagram on a piece of paper and put the screws out on the diagram as I removed them. It made it simple to replace each screw to the appropriate hole when reassembling. I found that I did not need to complete unscrew either of the bolts holding in the alarm module. Just loosen the nuts and slide off the alarm module (I figured this out the second time I removed the alarm siren...trust me it is a pain to replace the alarm siren if you completely unscrew the nuts). Lastly, cover the fenders and trunk of the car and don't wear any jeans or such with metal buttons or zippers exposed because you are going to leaning over the fenders and you don't want to scratch them up.

Can you relocate the batteries to make it easier to change in the future and prevent corrosion contamination when they leak?

    Yes, you can.

Many have done and posted the instructions but at the end (especially now - using this $80 alternative GM module), it is a lot more hassle than it is worth to relocate (IMO)

My car is totally apart at the audio guy so it was a slam dunk easy install!

Has anyone in the the UK or Europe tried thispart number below in a 360 and it works?

In Europe there's an Opel/Vauxhall Omega part GM 09 231 886 BW that looks very similar but has not to my knowledge been tested

I have ordered from them three weeks ago and still had not received it, as they told me aslo that the part is backordered !!!
Moreover, they asked me for a VIN number without which they can not order this part, apparently... What a BS !!! Still hopeful that I will receive it one day...

How did you come up with the fact that a GM alarm siren might work on a Ferrari ???

Looked the same. Made by Bosch, same connector, figured it's just a siren and a noisemaker... also figured the worst case it blows a fuse..

...or an alarm module and I'm SOL. :)

Saw one on ebay for 40 bucks and figured what the heck.. Cut it open and the batteries were same as old unit. Board was different though. I thought there had to be common components used across the board.

Plugged it in and it worked. :)
