Let's pool some money, say 10 f-chatters at $5,000 each (cash)... We'll put the money in a briefcase, drive up to his house, slam the briefcase down on the Countach, say "take it or leave it"... If he takes it, we win!! If he doesn't take it, well, we'll have to keep this thread going I guess.

But if he takes it, we can put together ANOTHER $50,000 and have an ANNI Countach to share...

I call dibs on first drive!!

I think this guy sounds like a cool dude. I would love to one day be an old guy living in a beater house and have a few exotics sitting outside all year.

I remember many years ago looking at a DD for sale outside of Pittsburgh, and this guy had no garage, but had it stored inside of a container during the winter. You have to give props to some guys that put a high enough priority on having the car of their dreams, that they make it happen even though they have to make other sacrifices to do so (most would interpret this as not being really able afford to have it). But they make it happen even though it seems odd to us, so I say bravo to anyone who has the motivation to get the car of his dreams, even though he may not have a garage. Maybe he will build the garage by summer Snow and cold actually don't hurt a car that bad.....much worse is the sun and heat.

For those who think the snowy treatment is no big deal, let me ask this ; given it is a rare piece of art, albeit an unusual mode of transport, how would you feel if a $100,000 oil painting was allowed to be exposed to the elements or other abuses? So the only difference to you guys is that the Lambo is still, just a car, and it is fine to park it whereever? To me and to others, the Lambo is to Ferruccio Lamborghini the same as what a fine painting would be to Picasso. The mistreatment of either work of art would make the artist roll in their graves.

Yes you have a right to buy and destroy whatever you want, but to some degree owning such a car should be an honor and a priviledge, not just a price tag. Yes you can drive it hard, but don't piss on the car and treat it like a throwaway

The snow won't hurt the metal, fiberglass, or aluminum unless left there for a long, long time. The stuff the car is made out of will be fine in the cold and snow. I would agree with you if it were going to be ruined in the snow, like a canvas painting would be.

    I agree.
I said to him about not leaving it outside. He said it all aluminum, it ain't gonna rust and that he'll get it in the garage soon. He does have a 2 car garage on the other of the house.

He needs to understand that the element will effect everything else and we all know that is costly.

I am counting on Patrick to drive by occasionally and keep us updated.

yes exactly my feeling. Taking this approach of a "piece of metal" seem hypocritical toward the vary nature of this board's purpose. while a bit of snow may not be the end of the world in this case, it is the principle that is out of wack.

By this thinking, then it was ok for the Taliban to destroy the 2000 years old giant statues because it was theirs. The world was then wrong to judge them and plea not to do it.
For those who think it is ok to leave a fairly iconic car on the side of the road in the new England winter I would like to know what they would do if it were their car...

As far as a painting same deal. Just a bit of tissues with goo on it. I am not a Art paint buff but I would find it quite disgusting to treat a Matisse just like a piece of tissue. For the neophite, a Picasso is junk but some buy them not by respect and admiration but because it makes them look good for social conversation and they can afford it. these guys are not gonna give the same respect to the painting.

IMo they are 2 kinds of people pissing on historical items: the very richs that nothing moves emotionally anymore and are looking for any kicks and the stupid who want things they cant appreciate but lack the class to treat things with respect.

I have my own philosphy in life: if one doesn't know how to treat his most prized possessions with respect, how to expect one to treat other people with respect?

But certainly there are different point of views in the world and its all about balance.

anyway: Happy new year to all!

Do you realize that when they salt the roads, that salt is everywhere in the air blowing around.

I washed my car yesterday, drove to work, now there is a film of whitish dust on it. That is the salt blowing around

And we are complaining of the guy with his car in the snow! Interesting to see who buys that car next and has happy memories of sitting on a seat recently occupied by a corpse!
I suppose both owners ar using their cars as they see fit! Not sure I agree with eithers method of use but on balance I agree with Roy. I am lucky in having two garages at my house and six cars storage. However in central London where garage space is very limited you can walk through some areas and see every form of exotic car parked on streets!

In the vastness of the US you perhaps forget in some small countries land and space can be at a premium! lol

Happy new year to you all

Yeah you drove on the road where the road was covered with salt, its not like it was just blown on the car come on. Now is it in the air sure, just like when you live near the ocean a garage will not prevent all the salt in the air from getting in there will always be a threat of salt if your in that environment. The threat is much lower than if your driving on the roads. The car is parked outdoors enjoying the winter weather.

I was under the impression that this car was on the road when the fire occured and had it towed back to his house. That was my salt concern.

I agree, a few posts in the "spotters thread" section, to me, made it sound like the car was seen in town on the side of the road. It didn't say "in town" or "in the yard", just seen being hosed down, which also made it sound worse than it was.

Who knows, in the end, maybe its better he let it sit and the water to evaporate before powering things up soaking wet. With the winds that came with this storm it would have possibly done more damage to cover the car and have the cover beat away at it.

Would I subject my car like this, no, but after the roads clear up some, I will go for a slow ride to exercise everything. Randy may have had the best intentions for preserving his car by taking it for a ride, but had an unfortunate issue at a most unfortunate time prior to the snow. This time of year is tricky because most of salt is gone from the travel lane, but when you come around a corner there could be wet salt contaminated runoff making its way across the road.(note the mist on the passenger door) Also, like Peter K. said that salt is blowing in the air too, so now the car gets cleaned completely, if it ever makes it out.

I too was going to take my car around the block before the snow, but never had the time, now it could be weeks or a month before shes exercised.

I think it would be a good idea to cover the motor with a tarp if he is not going to put a car cover on it , , thats a scary photo with all the snow on the motor ,only because its going to soak the motor if it melts, or just freeze everything if it does not, like any plastic fittings,+ and salt is some very bad stuff,it will rot away the car faster than most think.it wil destroy every part especially aluminum, it is a cool car ,i would wait for the road to clear a bit before going out ,

I think most of us that are "dreamers" can repect what Roy does by driving the wheels off of his cars. (I would too!) At the same time we hate to see a car we would kill to have just sit and rot. Not saying this will happen to this car but the cars of Walter Medlin are a good example. I would have been more than happy to give his cars the excercise they needed. I don't mind seeing an exotic totaled at the track but to see one neglected and re-claimed by mother nature is difficult.

it's not a replica, definitely a real AE CT
disappointing, a few car stands and a $15 tarp would do wonders
owner says he'll take it to his grave, but i suspect it will beat him there with this lack of care!
