As to the F50 brochure ALL Factory publications have a part number for them....there's been lists posted here....odd you cannot find one....

Honestly I can't remember. It was mentioned in the recent Palawan brochure, I think.

 

Pritchard wrote the 300sl Gullwing book, but that one has been out for many months now. I wouldn't mind picking up a copy of this book, but like all Palawan books it's always a decision not to be rushed in to.

Is he writing another book for them?

Edit - I just went on their website, maybe the new one is the Frazer-Nash book.

I don't believe he is talking about the publication serial number. There was talk of each carbon fibre covered brochure being issued to the original owner with their own cars production number (eg 341 of 349) printed inside. I have never seen it myself or had it confirmed from a reliable source.

I don't know how many c/f versions they made; but they are rare and expensive. It is a beautiful brochure; but the content is identical to the "normal" hardcover version. I bought both versions about 5 years ago and the c/f version was something like $2500 US. No idea what the current market is.
FWIW it is very easy to find the normal hardcover version.

A piece of the Owner's Package then wouldn't have a publication number like a normal brochure.....

All of the F50 hardback brochures were numbered - the number was printed on a small card attached to the corrigated cardboard outer slipcase, which when delivered was wrapped in plastic. I've seen numbers into the 3000's, so would assume at least 4000 were produced.

I don't know if this is true, but was told some years ago by a contact that by mistake Ferrari delivered a large number of the carbon F50 brochures to the Dutch importers as cardboard editions. This meant that some owners in other markets didn't receive their carbon edition and that more than expected made it into the hands of brochure collectors.

That's interesting, do you have any photos? My carbon fibre covered version came in the plastic sleeve and had no numbered card. Both versions have the corrugated cardboard outer slip case.

It's a nice brochure; but the best I have seen is the McLaren F1 factory brochure.

 

THAT is an interesting tidbit from history!!! LOL!

 

I've no photos of the carbon fibre edition, just the cardboard edition which I have in my own collection.

The McLaren F1 brochure is pretty special and for many years nothing came close.
In recent years a few of the manufacturers have upped their game. The McLaren SLR customer brochures are pretty impressive, as are the Maserati MC12 hardback brochure, the Veyron brochures and the Ferrari 16M alcantara portfolio. For me though the the leather brochure for the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione in the carbon fibre/metal box has to be the one with the biggest wow factor.

 

Seems like the Marquis has earned his spurs and been there long
enough for there to be a biography. Is there one? If so, does anyone know the publisher? In terms of Ferrari models chosen to be put in production, what's the general consensus of opinion--that he has chosen the right models? It seems at first glance to me that Lamborghini has improved their position and even Aston Martin has resurfaced as a viable alternative. And now there is McLaren entering the same price market.
How long is it speculated that he will stay as head of Ferrari or will Fiat move
him over to some other position?

 

Thanks for the photos. I definitely don't have the numbered paper slip in either the carbon fibre brochure or the normal version. It seems the number relates to the brochures sequence in the production run rather than the car itself.

I would love to get the Alfa 8C brochure that you mention. Is there a source for them or is it a matter of watching bay etc until one turns up?

Thanks. The photos show just some of the Ferrari collection, I've quite a lot more from other manufacturers which I've collected over the past 30 years.
One day I'll get round to upgrading my account so I can add some of the newer Ferrari brochures to the thread as I've maxed out my attachement allocation.

Maybe the carbon fibre F50 brochures were numbered differently. I've only ever seen them unwrapped.

Sadly if there is a source for the 8C brochures I've not managed to find it. Ebay is probably your best source and even then they don't come up very often.
There is also a leather brochure for the 8C Spider, but thats not as nicely put together as the Competizioni one.

with around 180 pages..

I've never seen a part number for the F50 book and there is nothing on the book itself.

However the Ferrari print numbers are 1001/96 for the cardboard edition and 1002/96 for the Kevlar edition.

 

Are you sure? I have 1002/95 for both versions, which as the car was released in 1995 makes sense.

I think your probably correct and my list is wrong.

 

not sure if joel finns books have been mentioned, particularly ferrari v12.i know joel and he has such an attention to detail both in his cars as well as his writting.all of his books are well put together and great reads. im looking forward to get my hands on the latest book which is about the cuban grand prix!

 

My collection is mostly limited to cars that I have owned or would like to own. Ferrari has a vast model range spanning over 60 years, so collecting everything would be prohibitively expensive and take up a lot of storage space.
I will be watching ebay for that 8C brochure.

 

I have the book Ferrari 250 GTO by Keith Bluemel & Jess Pourret and i wonder if make sense to buy the Ferrari 250 GTO: The History of a Legend by Anthony Pritchard.Any opinions?
