Help me out here: Why would the price get better? Only if the Euro declines?

Not a dream. I see this as my destiny. :) I've progressed through a series of mid engined cars: MR2 from 86-93, and now have a Cayman S (DD) and a Lotus Elise (track). The F430 is simply the next (perhaps ultimate) step up. It will replace the Cayman S and serve as both a DD and a track car.

Yes, it is your destiny! Although I can't see DV driving a bright blue car.

I'm glad to see that the final outcome of this whole thing. I've always thought that German engineering has been one step ahead of everyone else. I'm assuming now that the Germans have taught the rest of the exhaust manufacturers how to get the formula right for these headers, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Fabspeed adopt the 4-2-1 formula at some point! I also have the Capristos on my Challenge and wow! What a big improvement on torque!

    VIVA CAPRISTO!

I don't know much about header design, but Capristo's 4-2-1 pipes sure look good. Seems like the dyno results back up those good looks, too.

I´ve got 4 criteria when making decisitions.

    1. Do I realy want this?
    2. Can I afford it?
    3. Will it ever be cheaper?
    4. Will I ever be younger?

If you honestly answere these questions - you know exactly what to do.

Sorry for spelling. Swede - you know.

Here are my answers for the mix...:

    1. Yeh! I want it, sure!
    2. I can, but should I "afford it"...?
    3. Probably not... (high end car market is relatively stable).
    4. No, for sure... Enjoy it while you still can and drive your Ferrari !

    Cheers

So if Ferrari of Central Florida put these head to head and they both made the same amount of max hp BUT the Capristo made more torque, then the choice is obvious (granted money isn't an option), Capristo is the way to go... especially with the heat shield... it's an added bonus of safety.

4-2-1 vs. 4-1 designs have been around for as long as people have been hot-rodding small block Chevy V8s. The 4-1 designs generally tend to have a bit more top end. The 4-2-1 designs generally have more mid-range torque and are usually the better choice for a street driven car, with Ferraris no exception.

I agree but in this case with both designs making the exact hp, Capristo has to be the 'better' choice of the two when going for max power gains. For the value, Fabspeed all the way.

Correct. Both are very well built. Excellent quality. Have the two in front of me and can compare. Don´t forget the difference in price.

Have a nice new years eve. Champagne cooling down now. We are at least 6 hours ahead of you.
If no hangover tomorrow, I´ll switch to Capristo and listen.

    All the best

Headers for American V8s are optimized for 90 deg crankshafts, hence the trade between 4-2-1 and 4-1. The Capristos are optimized for 180 deg crankshafts (like 2x4 cylinders on a common crankshaft), hence the improvement in hp and torque for 4-2-1. A 90 deg crankshaft V8 will actually optimize with a bundle of snakes exhaust system, but this is very difficult to fit on a street car, and was seen mostly on Indy cars and sports racers using stock block engines.

FabSpeed= great bargain and improved performance
Capristo= cost no object performance with no compromises

Love the Capristo headers...too bad I could only justify the Fabspeed though it works perfectly well for me seeing I don't race or track (at least for now). The insulation sure looks good too. Congrats.

Anyone that knows the torque on the exhaust manifold bolts?

Anoying that this information together with gaskets, clamps etc - not are delivered with manifolds as expensive as these are.

It's from the Workshop Manual which is software based and is protected by a dongle. You can get it on Ebay with a virtual software dongle to unprotect the software.
