Anyone have knowledge of this car by any chance? http://www.blackhorsegarage.com/cars-for-sale/1997-ferrari-f355-gts/
Photos look nice. But I don't have anything for you. It's the opposite end of Connecticut from me, I'm near the western edge. There's quite a few Connecticut people here that might be closer and/or have some knowledge of this car. Good luck.
I looked into this car a bit before buying mine. Its in need of a full service and it has an accident on record. Otherwise seems very nice. I told them I would pay $50k and they never called back. This car is actually on consignment with them.
I was going to purchase the car last month and then found out it needed the 30K service which runs about $5K by a Ferrari shop in Southern Cal. I offered them $52K and they never contacted me. Consider that they are asking $57K and that the service was going to run me $5K, I thought I was being fair.
Great looking GTS. Has always been my favorite. Compared to the $105k 355 Spyder for sale in another thread, I think this is a good deal ( to me the GTS is more desirable and rare) as long as the PPI checks out. Go for $55k and have service done post- delivery.
It will be more like 10-12K for the major when all is said and done. Is this pre or post valve guild issues? Wasnt the cut off point somewhere in 97. Pretty car and the GTS! To much $ though.
In the big picture $5000+\~ is not going to make that big a difference if you otherwise get a well sorted car with a full 30k service done. There is something to be said for doing all the work by your own people. If it what you want and your close go for it.
Well said. IMHO, you can purchase this car ( even at asking price) have full service taken care of ( I think $10K is high), drive and enjoy . Depreciation will be minimal, if any at all. I am sure the experts will chime in with production numbers regarding the GTS vs. Spyders .
No - however the work to fix was done by the dealership. They told me i could have a copy of the records.
Yes, legend has it but there are stories of cars beyond MY97 that had the brass valve guides. I'm not sure there is a way to know for certain without taking it apart. If we are to believe Wikipedia, I think they have it at like 2,400 GTS were ever made. Something like 3,200 Spiders and 3,000 Berlinettas. Exact numbers are off but should be close enough. It does look like a very nice car...find out what the accident was all about and if just a fender bender then get a PPI and let the negotiating begin. Good luck.
GTB - 3928 Manual 1042 F1 4970 Total GTS - 2048 Manual 529 F1 2577 Total Spider - 2664 Manual 1053 F1 3717 Total
With 2400 GTS's made it seems strange that in the market it is like a 10:1 ratio of spiders to coupes/targas. What up w dat?
Any idea if this is total production or if these #'s are the US import figure, and, is there a way to get the production numbers by year? Thanks and a great New Year to all.
Whats the story on the 97 F355 Spider with 13K at 47,000 ? Blue/Tan looks really nice and with a few upgrades to stereo ? I like the fact its a 6 speed as well
