I have to imagine it happened during training for JDS.................would make no sense at all if it happened from the Lesnar fight.

You would think....but from what I've read they're saying it happened during the Lesnar fight and he only recently had an MRI that revealed the 90% tear.

If that's the case, how is it possible that he noticed nothing in preparation for JDS until now? Makes no sense at all.

Brian Stann - NICE win! Leben is hard to KO, but he looked great.

My man Edgar got jobbed - I know I'll take heat for this, but Maynard won Round 1 and 3 at best, I had Edgar 48-47.

Oh well, much better fight than the first one!

Maynard certainly dominated the 1st round, but so much so that Edgar scored an 8? I don't think I agree with that. What do you guys think?

A 10-8 is usually given if it's overly dominated. In boxing, it's a 10-8 if you knock the guy down. It's rarely - if EVER - a 10-7.

    Let's accept a 10-8 (although I would have said 10-9) - then I saw it as:

    Rd 1: 10-8 Maynard
    Rd 2: 10-9 Edgar
    Rd 3: 10-9 Maynard
    Rd 4: 10-9 Edgar
    Rd 5: 10-9 Edgar

Then it's 47-47, and that's what it ended up as. I agree with you that the first round was a 10-9 for Maynard, and ends up 48-47 Edgar. This was nowhere near what the first fight was, and Frankie took down Maynard, even slammed him. He rocked him more than a few times and by round 5 has much more pep.

Tough to say, but I thought Edgar did enough to win it.

It certainly was an awesome fight! I really don't know how Franklie was looking so good after that 1st round, he truly has a Champion's heart. Dana has announced that Edgar/Maynard III will take place right away, and rightfully so. You can't have a title fight ending in a draw, and not give them a chance to have a definite winner.

Stann definitely has no ground game, but he's got decent standup. Top 10? Not sure I agree, but I love that he's a war hero kickin' butt.

the margin of defeat for rounds 1 vs any of the other rounds. Frankie almost died in round 1..hahhaa

    10-8 maynard
    10-9 edgar
    10-9 maynard
    10-8 edgar
10-9 edgar.. but damn close....could have gone either way.

at best.. 47/47 .. but could have been 48 46 maynar.

    Great fights!!!
Glad to see Diaz get beated; I can't stand the guy.
I thought Frankie won; Maynard rocked him in the first, but Frankie's recovery was truely that of a champs.
Stann obviously hits HARD. His story is great, but I don't think he's top ten...

Oh.. That's differrent. Good for him for pushing himself. He has such a great story and comes accross so humble, how can you not like him.

Also... Let's not forget about Vera... Man, what a fall from grace. He brought nothing. I like the guy, but man... He got SMASHED! He's out of the UFC for sure.

Also Glad Guida won. I love his spirit.

I did too but JUST barely. The first was def a 10-8 but he just didn't do enough in the 5th to win it. I thought Frankie was a gonner for sure in the 1st. I still can't believe how much MMA is trending towards a stand up game. I figured Maynard would have his way all night with Frankie on mat but it never really went there. Frankie stuffed everything.

I watched the fight again, and save for a late takedown by Maynard, Frank beat him good in Round 3. Given that takedown, I could see a judge leaning Maynard, but IMHO Frank took rounds 2 - 5.

Maynard was tired, demoralized, and beaten. I honestly think the next fight won't be close - Maynard won't out wrestle or outbox Edgar, and judging by the first round of this fight, won't knock him out.

Edgar by UD in the third match.

Ah, Vera. So true, what you say. The guy looked like he was unstoppable earlier in his career, and now...... Too bad, he's a charismatic fighter, and represents himself and the sport well. I fully expect to read about him getting released any day now.

Guida is an animal. His pace is off the charts. Very nice win for him. Very strange head movement though!

Which is exactly why I couldn't understand why he was 'demoted', if you will, to a non-televised undercard in the past. He always gives his all and you are guaranteed a good match with him in the octagon. No way he should ever be on an undercard.

Agreed! But I wonder about a Edgar-Maynard III. Pettis is up next for Frankie and then there's always Bendo. Could be quite a while before we see another Edgar-Maynard. I'd say a Maynard-Bendo match up is more likely with the winner getting a title shot at either Edgar or Pettis.

Wow, What can I say that hasn't been said. First of all WHAT AN ENTERTAINING CARD!!!!!! Edgar was amazing after that 1st. round. I am a believer of him now. And YES i feel it was a 10-8 rd. If not, what is? Was Lesner/Carwin's a 10-8? I wonder... Tiago Silva is SCARY! Could you see him fighting Rampage? Guida looked awesome, to beat Gomi. BIG WIN (IMO). I love that Diaz lost. I can't stand the guy either. I didn't think Leben was gonna get his ass kicked. He's been fighting well lately, and Stan really never did much for me. Great win for Stan. Will Vera get cut from the UFC????????

I would guess he does it to move his hair more. With his hair flying around it will throw off his opponent in knowing WHERE TO HIT; makes his head look all over the place. (Just a thought).

I also noticed in last season's TUF, Brookins threw his hair into his opponent's face on almost every ground & pound session when he was on top; blinds the other guy for a second.

I always have a good laugh when people say they can't stand Diaz. In his 12 UFC fights, he has won the FoN bonus 4 times, and SoN twice. He definitely gives it his all (except for Saturday - he didn't look that good) so I'm not sure what people can't stand.

Ahhh I didn't catch that. Let's see if it happens. Not everything he says comes true when it comes to match making. Personally I think Pettis should get the next shot at Frankie.

How about that win by Poirier over Grispi? Poirier is a heck of a fighter. Can you imagine what Aldo would have done to Grispi?

Oh - did anyone watch Overeem destory Duffee? Not sure what Duffee was thinking taking this fight, nor the promoters offering it to him.
