There's a 458 in DSM, but it's red.... Pretty hard to mistake a Lexus --- even an LFA --- for a 458. What did the tail lights look like?......very different between the two cars...
Yep, here's an LFA and a 458, very different rear ends: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It looked a lot like an LFA's back. What I saw of it had a layout very similar to that. I can't say for sure what it was because it was moving pretty quick and got blocked by another car. I saw it pulling out of the US Bank on Merle Hay. I work right next door, so I will keep an eye out next time I'm over there. Hopefully I can get a shot of it next time.
Spotted a white Porsche Panamera heading south on 35 this morning around 9:30. Don't know if you consider a Panamera exotic, but it's rare...Didn't see what state the plates were.
Guys, For what it's worth - regarding MSO..... I knew an individual on Long Island that purchased a new Carrera GT in Red, never registered the car, and drove it till just before 4k miles when he totalled the car. This was maybe ~1 year ago. He then sold the car to the insurance company with MSO/Original Title. It can be done.... And yes, a car that is never driven on road can be covered under homeowners.
I recently saw a Panamera at the Porsche Dealer in Davenport ----- geez, and I thought the Cayenne was stupid-looking..... I used to have a lot of respect for Porsche (although I never cared to own one), but these days, they don't know what the hell they want to be anymore.... I won't be surprised if they introduce a damn "sport" pick-up truck for 2012 !!!
In response to my above comment, checkout this car at the well-known Jim Lyons Sports Car Company.... HINT: Read a few specific letters at the tail-end of the "Main Title Description" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-Z8-ALPINA-2003-BMW-Z8-ALPINA-ROADSTER-NEW-OnMSO-RareCollectorCar-/220708469830?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item33633ffc46
Totally agree. Lots of Panameras in Omaha, and they are BUTT UGLY. Maybe they could base a little "sport" truck on the Tiguan, make it a two door, and call it the ElCamino?
I did Chad, a 6-mile, on MSO, museum car.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-Z8-2002-BMW-Z8-2002-BMW-Z8-Roadster-NEW-MSO-6-MILES-MUSEUM-CAR-/220708474006?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3363400c96
Sigh, would be a pity to have to rebuild a motor with 6 miles on it since all the seals would presumably be dried out and maybe even corrosion in the cylinder liners.
Spotted a Cadillac CTS-V Lingenfelter (I believe) in Indianola last night. It was a CTS-V with a Lingenfelter looking body kit. Not really an exotic, but not something you really see everyday...
There will be one in Newton, IA Monday afternoon. Look forward to the spring and some get togethers. Pics of the car at the dealer and will add some when it gets home on Monday.......Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Steve, Congrat's. Looks GREAT, I am jealous !! I've been active in the local SCCA for years, we hold several auto-cross events at the speedway every season. Hope you'll come out and see what it's all about. Ron PS. How in the world are you going to keep from driving it till spring !?! ; )
Actually I flew to Chicago this morning and drove it back starting around noon after they detailed it. The drive had to be the shortest 5 hours of my life. I am sitting in my office/garage and it is looking back at me with loving eyes. I am going to drive it if the roads are dry and free of salt and sand. I bought it for me and I am going to have fun with it.......I am so madly in love with this car....I have no words that I can say.....but what I thought it would be like is 1/100 of what it is really like. I am one very blessed and grateful guy.........Steve
Steve, let me get this right, you flew to Chicago and drove the car back? BRAVO! Good for you, I hear too many stories of people that will have the car shipped instead of driving it. 300 Miles is not a lot. Once again GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Newton, huh? I used to go there for ice cream when I went to Grinnell. Small world. Enjoy your car--it looks stunnung!
Hey Steve, Didn't you say something about a sick, Dear Auntie in Florida. You really should go see her. ; ) Ron
Or, for people who don't relish for the chassis of their car to become corroded.....a lot of salt residue on the roads between here and Chicago this time of year. Congrats on the new mount BTW, is everything "fresh" ---- clutch, belts, fluids, etc.?? Is it still under any remainder of warranty?
