Well...I've had about enough with my 360 sounding like a Camry on idle and cruise On all of my cars I've put on loud exhausts. One fond memory was my prior 2009 C63 AMG with KLEEMANN headers and sport cats -- that thing was ridiculous. Another is my present 1987 Porsche Targa with a Fabspeed sport cup muffler and sport cats. That thing is also ridiculous. For anyone who cares...I think the best sounding system is the Cargraphic sides and Sharkwerks bypass on a 997.2 C2S (which is for sale). At any rate, I have quite a bit of experience with aftermarket exhaust on Porsche, but this is my first foray into Ferrari. After much deliberation, I've selected the Capristo Level 3 (found a seller with a used system -- too loud for him). I hope to have it installed in the next couple of weeks and will post vids. I had also considered the Capristo Twin Exhaust allowing for the valve control but I don't think I'd ever use the valves closed
My 430 has Capristo Twin Sound with Remote, Fabspeed Headers and Fabspeed Test Pipes. Drove the 430 around on a light foot like they said to see if CEL actually pops up. Nope, drove for an entire day in town keeping revs down to below 4500revs. Nope, nada, no CEL. Just really bad droning at 3000revs with valves closed. But once the valves are fully open, the droning disappears coz in overall everything becomes so much louder and wilder. So I'd definitely recommend Capristo.
Nothing wrong with the ECUs mate. The exhaust system was installed without a hitch and I've test drove the 430 on several occasions using dfferent driving styles, hard driving over time, slow city traffic versus cruising on the highway, no CELs. So I'm quite suprised. Perhaps it'll pop up in time. Fingers crossed then.
I also found a nice thread in this forum regarding disconnecting the electrical plugs to the valves on the stock exhaust. Although I'm looking for a more aggressive sound, I was hoping I could give this a go to see if it could tie me over for a while. The passenger side valve connector is easy to remove, but the driver side is difficult to reach. I think I'd be able to use a long screwdriver to pop off that connector, but I don't see how I'd put it back on without having to remove the rear grill. Also, I discovered a rubber grommet inside the connector which I presume helps to keep out water. I'd likely lose that on the driver side during this operation. Anyone have any luck with the driver side?
Well...as I mentioned, I've spent more time on YouTube listening to aftermarket exhaust vids for my 2002 360 than actual seat time I've also spent a great deal of time reviewing vendor websites, talking to vendors, and talking to other forum members. My primary goal for the new exhaust is to achieve a loud, aggressive sound -- something that would make people "jump" in the car next to me if I revved the engine (hyperbole of course) On the other hand, my neighbors would burn down my house after just a few mornings of startup and driving away (even while trying to keep the RPMs as low as possible on a loud system). So I knew a valve control unit was critical for me -- and I wanted one that I could easily control without having to either customize my own or manually open/close the valves. I also knew that for me, dropping $5k or even $7K on a system was not going to happen. These systems are incredible and worth every penny, but I love sound, but not that much. I also considered several used systems from Capristo, Tubi, etc., but for the prices to get into my range, the used systems were just too old and probably would have required repair after some miles on them. So after weighing: * sound quality * price/sound quality ratio * remote valve control * warranty and post-sales support ...I chose the Agency Power Electronic Valve Control Exhaust from Vivid Racing. Rob at Vivid was the most knowledgeable of the vendors I talked with, as his 360 has had at least 4 different aftermarket systems on it. Unfortunately the YouTube vids are limited on this system so I could not get a large sampling of how this sounds, but from the 2 vids I watched, and from Rob's description, I believe I've made the right choice. I'm looking forward to getting the system on and will be sure to report back with my impressions.
Hi "TC" I see we're on the same page here. I just received my package from Rob today and have started a thread......... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309521 First impressions are of a quality piece of kit. Look forward to comparing notes with you in due course!
Cool -- I just posted on your thread. Looking forward to comparing notes. This is my first Vivid Racing experience so I'm looking forward to a good outcome.
You won't be disappointed! I got all my parts from Rob and the quality & service is superb! I just got my 100 cell high flow cats to quiet my system a little bit and the quality is great.
