In all the hoopla and controversy about a host of new Loti, the Evora has seemingly vanished. I've never seen one or heard of anyone who owned one. Anybody out there have any first hand stories or impressions?

I got to see them being built at the factory last month. The more I see them, the more I like them. I heard there were some minor quality issues with the first batch of cars (water leaking into the boot?), but that they quickly remedied them.

If you want to chat with some Evora owners firsthand, I suggest thelotusforums.com -- there are a bunch on there. :)

On the contrary, there's more focus on the Evora than ever before due to the only car available for sale after this year (Exige is discontinued and the Elise has enough engines for 2011 MY only). The focus will totally be on the Evora with minor interior upgrades, IPS (Intelligent Precision Shifting-Lotus version of an auto w/paddle shifter), the Evora S (supercharge version w/345 HP). Lotus is also working on making the interior ergonomically friendly...in a nut shell, have the control buttons readily accessible. New features will come out shortly but the first issue at hand was to reduce the base price which they did by $8000.

I've put roughly over 3K miles on Evora's from prototype, factory and demo versions and I must say that I really enjoy driving it. A must have in my opinion is the sport ratio gearbox which requires the sport package but is a lot of fun and the back-up camera. With the recent cold snap we Californians have endured this winter, the upcoming heated seats option would be nice. Lotus also plans to introduce alcantara interior fabric as an option as well.

Since the announcement of the price reduction, dealers are starting to sell more Evora's but even if you don't see any on the roads, remember that Lotus has built thus far only 250 cars for the North American market. Even the Elise/Exige models which have been around in the same market for 4-5 years are barely starting to be seen around.

great to have an insider here!!!!

I heard that the very first Evoras to come out had the transmission from a Diesel car from the Toyota range and that top speed was achieved in 5th gear and not in 6th to obtain better emissions....

    I still prefer the Esprits

I drove one last summer and even tracked it. Very comfortable. Awesome handling and brakes. Couldn't complain except not enough horsepower for the high price compared to the competition. It sounds like they fixed that with the price reduction and boost in power with the S.

Drove one of the first cars here in the N.A. and of the mind the upcoming S will be one of the most under-rated cars of all time due to sheer low volume and lack of public awareness. The current "non" S is fun, handles great, and feels quicker than the numbers suggest, but the supercharger will certainly improve it and should make it a blast.

The green and yellow was undoubtedly the Cup Car Evora since Lotus does not make a Jim Clark Edition...yet ;) and currently the Evora is less than the 911:

    -Porsche 911 Base Price $77,800
    -Lotus Evora Base Price $65,500

Lotus should sell Logos, people could iron on their headrests, so that everyone can have
their very own limited edition Lotus... I'm sorry, but I am fed up (I own a Lotus) with those numerous special editions.

An Elise Jim Clark edition (or as they called it : Clark Type 25) could also be called Team Lotus edition, because of its livery, but obviously the name Clark brings more customers...
