    Hi,

i've updated www.dinoplex.org with wiring diagrams for all Dino 206GT/246GT factory setups, you'll find them in the "Car specific wiring diagrams" section for the Dinoplex AEC101/AEC103.

    Enjoy,
    Adrian

Out of curiosity Adrian, do you think its a good idea to fit an in line fuse to the BSm feed?

    Briliant drawings BTW

Makes sense, i'll update the BSM charts with an 20A inline fuse.

    Thanks,
    Adrian

I have measured the amps drawn under load and max i got was 3 amps. Would suggest 10amp fuse to protect cable and unit.

You need to measure the current with a scope and current clamp, a multimeter is not fast enough to capture the actual current spikes. The default BSM profile charges the coil with 10 ampere for up to 5 ms, so you need to go for 15-20 Ampere to make sure the fuse does not blow in normal operations.

Thanks Adrian, I used a clamp meter and only ever got 3amps max. Coil has been set to 8 amps maxasyou suggested, but i take your point.

Never had a 10amp fuse blow in 4 + years its been fitted, but Nerodino has had blown fuses, perhaps he should upgrade!!

I have taken my feed from the starter, not sure if it makes that much difference. I guess its much easier from the Alt fuse

Tony, I have not blown a fuse since i discovered a poor earth on the ignition system mounting plate and tightened it up.

I am basically ready to have them produced but since the label is a bit complex to make (the original is eloxated aluminium with rounded edges, not just a printed label, and i want them to be 100%) i need to produce at least a hundred to make this work. A single one will cost about $6-7 in production. Which AEC104 do you have (AEC104BW, BK, B-660)?

The only place to find that number is on the blue metal sticker (Which is trashed on mine) so I don't know which unit I have other than it does not have the rev limiter module. Just a blank off plate held by 4 screws. By the way, what's the deal with that type of unit?

    Many thanks!

The easiest way to find out if its an AEC104BK or AEC104BW is to check if it triggers if you ground the upper right terminal on the connector as seen from the front. If you touch the terminal with a ground and get a spark, then its an AEC104BW, if not then its an AEC104BK (or broken).

    From www.dinoplex.org:

    Magneti Marelli Dinoplex AEC 104 B (1975-1989)

    Variations:
AEC 104 BW: Points Trigger, OEM and AEC 103A replacement (Ferrari, Fiat)
AEC 104 BK: Magnetic Trigger, Carburetted Ferraris
AEC 104 B-660: Magnetic Trigger, Rev Limiter module set to 6600 RPM
AEC 104 B-780: Magnetic Trigger, Rev Limiter module set to 7800 RPM

    Coil:
Magneti Marelli BAE 202B (3 terminals)

    Cars:
    Ferrari 365 BB/GT4 (104 BK), Ferrari 512 BB (104 BK), Ferrari 512 BBi (104 B-660), Ferrari 400i (104 B-660), Lamborghini Countach (104 B-780), Lamborghini LM002 (104 B-780), Laverda V6 Motorcycle (104 BK)

It's kind of destined for a 512BBi. Would this be correct? Maybe as a replacement part from the Ferrari Parts counter? (Sorry for bringing this into a 206/246 site)

I'll check the triggering function. (This assumes it works).

A 512BBi would have the rev limiter version (AEC104B-660) installed by the factory, but an AEC104BK would work as a replacement part, you just don't have the rev limiter feature.

    Good luck,
    Adrian

Adrian, I too send you my greatest of thanks. I really would not have known where to begin and now I am starting to piece together the parts for my very own Dinoplex conversion. I will be sure to document it along with a link to your site on www.dino246.com
