Here are a few photos of marine 450S engines I bought back in mid 80's. There were 7 blocks in total ranging from std 450 up to 6.7 litres as part of package used by a well known hydroplane racer in Australia in late 50' early 60's. I sold them on to Us & I believe some ended with Kaus & replica 151 & with another car in US.

Can you recall WHEN you sold those engines?

But this pics are better placed in a 450S-thread rather than in this 5000GT-section!

Do you have the serial numbers on the engines?

I am thinking I bought all seven of them when I owned MIE.
    Check one of your VCM's.
I sold all those engines and one went to the Honorable Lord Brocket. So we know where it is now. One day I need to write a book on the great law suit with his Lordship, which we won.
But when the detective went to the Channel Islands to have a peek at his bank account we found a measly 1300 pounds, hardly worth the effort to go after it.
His Lordship was a high brow con man way before Madoff.
He ultimately spent time in the big house and got married to the guy with the most cigarets and became someones, rimes with snitch only with a B.

I remember that episode Frank. Yes a book! And a classy story it would be! Could I suggest a title?

I read from earlier posts that the belief is that 022 is really a mexico - has this car now been sold?

Dear God! As a hard-core boat engine guy (a little late to the party tho), those pix are enough to make a grown boy cry.....sigh....

Frank; are any of them still in marine guise do you think? Or likely all stripped back to land motors.....

Has anyone seen a 5000gt with power steering? I checked and a Ghibli power steering unit would bolt directly to the chassis without mods.Would that devalue the car if it had power steering assuming that all the original parts are retained?
    Just thinking out loud!

I really don't know where they all ended up. I did sell one to the Dis-Honorable Lord Brocket who made a fuss. The others I suspect are in various condition, either being used or waiting to be used.

Bad Idea. Shame on you Jacques.
Putting PS on a 5000 GT would be like putting PS on a 450S.

    My $0.02.

A 450s probably can't be driven on the street on regular bases. I intend to drive the 5000gt and in the treacherous mountains where I live it sounds enticing. So you're all saying that I have to suffer and keep it pure:)Understand!

    Jacques,
The whole point of owning a vintage car, besides being the caretaker of History, is experiencing how things were at the time they were built, not making the car into something it never was.

So what if the A/C is anemic by todays standards, put down the windows. Remember power steering was not something that was unknown when the 5000S was built. It was common place, but Maserati choose not to put it on their most expensive and exclusive road car they ever built. Improving a 5000GT with power steering is really something that would be only beneficial when parking

Now if you want an area where the 5000GT really needs improvement, its the BRAKES or lack there of, but then again it wouldn't be a 5000GT without terrifying brakes.

    Joe

Hasanybody more old photos of #008, the 5000GT made by Pininfarina.

I like that one as it has quite muscular lines.
The car is currently with a German Collector.
