Crazy money for an unproven NFL coach; guess no different than the money Sam Bradford (or Ryan Leaf :D) got. Harbaugh needs to break off a piece for his brother; I'm sure John's success has increased Jim's perceived ability to succeed at the NFL level, thus his value.

^ is the Tuna still running stuff for the Fish? I recall he was considering moving on at some point this season, though I never heard any newer updates.

Nice use of color! :D He is still shown on the Dolphins staff: http://www.miamidolphins.com/content/bill-parcells

But this recent article states he is a consultant and might be moonlighting: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/dolphins/miami-dolphins-consultant-bill-parcells-might-be-advising-1152708.html

I'm surprised the Dolphins of all teams are willing to go back to college coaches for their interview pool.

I love the Ol' Ball Coach and we saw what happened to him in the NFL. I suspect Harbaugh would fare about the same.

...and Saban, Petrino, Butch Davis, Dennis Erickson, Mike Riley, the list goes on.

Heck, the only one I can recalling going directly from college head to NFL head and being successful is Jimmy Johnson. Who am I forgetting about? As much as I like OU, I just can't give Switzer the credit for his wins in Big D...sorry Barry!

Parcells left the organization (for the most part) shortly into the season.

And so far, I have yet to see John Harbaugh do much of anything except somehow screw up what SHOULD be one of the most potent Offenses in the entire league. As far as I can tell he has a decent Defensive line and LB corp, and Ed Reed, but his Corners and weak Safety are killing them.

This morning on the radio I heard Sparano is stayin as coach. Andrew Luck decided to stay at Stanford so maybe Harbaugh is too.

Heard the same on ESPN and that 49ers offer to Harbaugh is ~ $6MM/yr.

If Harbaugh stays in college, gotta think he is going to Michigan. But maybe he wants one more year of "Luck."

Pretty sure I heard him release a statement that said he was only interested in Stanford as a college coach.

    Bill Walsh!

The memories of what he did for the '9ers are why many folk around here would like to give Harbaugh a chance......

Personally, I'd like Gruden at the '9ers.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Apparently, he's the man! - Local reports say 5 years @ $5MM per.

Hopefully he really is the next coming of Bill Walsh.....

'9er nation is happy (for now anyway)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Yep, just saw the press conference on ESPN. Wonder if Luck knew before he made his decision.

Good question! I'm sure we'll find out....

There's the potential lockout coming soon as well - I wonder if that factored in?

    Cheers,
    Ian
