Doesn't he own a GTR? I actually like the GTR but it seems so robotic to me and even if you can work on it, at the end of the day it's still one big computer. I don't know what to think. If he doesn't want to own one, IMO he is missing out on one of the best marques in the world. Maybe the best. His loss.

He has been treated like crap at Ferrari dealers, and wouldn't put up with it.

So because of this, the Fchat community half dozen times a year have multi page threads about him not owning one? LOL!! Very sad indeed.

Wonder if the reason he was treated that way was due to him asking any of the following when he went into the dealership the first time:

    a) I saw this picture of a wooden Ferrari in Venice, can I get one here?

    b) Do you really have to change the timing belts on these things?

    c) What kind of wax do you use on these?

    d) So my buddy Ellen over on Lambocrap.com says the bull cars are better, can you show me a Ferrari that is faster?

Any of these would get a noob roasted here, maybe he made the same mistake.

Maybe you read it in a different way than I typed it? I just think he's at a loss for not having a Ferrari.

    Have you seen his collection?

He seems capable of making any car decision he wants so the comment seems more than a little moot. At a loss for things automotive seems an ambitious opinion of his woeful circumstances in the hobby.

I'm 99.99% sure he's not on the steam powered or dusenberg forums questioning the car guy qualifications of the f chat members that are failing to see him as anything other than a fairly committed car guy...

He has a right to not like Ferraris if he chooses, I've read he also doesn't like American malaise era cars. So what, let's move on.

If I had to rely on Ferrari dealers for mechanical service and customer service, I wouldn't have one, as they are, for the most part, arrogant and pathetic. But fortunately I can do most of my own work, as well as sales research, without having to rely on the Ferrari dealer 'attitude'.

For the amount of money Ferrari charges for these cars, as well as their service, customers should be treated like the valued clients that they are, but unfortunately for the
    most part, they aren't.

When I used to get 'attitude' from dealers, I wished the cars weren't so much fun to drive, as there is no way it would be worth putting up with.

    seems you aren't of this mindset then;

"Why people insist on paying over MSRP for a USED car is beyond my comprehension. It's not that hard to build a relationship with a Ferrari dealer. You simply have to go about it the right way. Just lobbing a call into a dealership to ask to get on the list won't cut it. Neither will stopping by the showroom on a Saturday (their busiest day). You have to establish credibilty by demonstrating that you are a true car enthusiast that is capable of being patient, and that you want to building a long-term relationship. It's not a one step process, but rather an iterative one. Ferrari dealerships want to sell their cars to people who will become repeat customers. That's why you have to build the relationship first. I've purchased 2 new Ferrari's configured to my spec at MSRP within the past 2 years. Prior to that I had never owned a Ferrari. Just make it a goal to establish yourself as the type of customer Ferrari wants, get on a wait list with a paid deposit, and you will get the car exactly as you want it at MSRP. Nothing as great as Ferrari comes easy, but it's not nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. Only the "must have it now" types who demand instant gratification seem to be the ones who consider paying over MSRP...for a used car no less. Patience is a virtue.'

I cringed after reading this... I'm more than OK with used & private service when the opportunity presents.

I would like to invite Mr Leno to come here to Savannah for the Ferrari event here in June.

I am not affiliated with the FCA, but I am a gearhead.

Maybe he just needs someone to show him around a bit ! :) :) :)

My theory is that he doesn't want to get into classic Ferraris
because there are some really heavy hitters, financially, already in the field (such as Ralph Lauren, etc.)
and everyone expects if he starts buying them he would buy something like
a 250GTO, '50s Testa Riossa, California Spyder, NART Spyder or something equally legendary and the working class background he came from just won't let him spend that much on a single car.

Ironically if he buys something much less expensive, people would wonder "Can't he afford a more unique model? Maybe he's not so successful as I thought."

So he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I heard that all his car money comes only from work outside the Tonight Show, it's his "mad money."

I also agree that he probably ran into a Ferrari dealer/manager, etc. who just rubbed him the wrong way, and he doesn't want to be another supplicant after saying so many times he is not a worshipper of the prancing horse.

Also that pesky Letterman has several Ferraris including some classic ones, I found ref. on Google to his
    1951 ferrari 212 inter sport coupe and 275 GTB/6C , so I think there's a little bit of
"oh so you came late to the party and want to show up Letterman, eh?"

I have seen the collection and it's nothing short of amazing. I know he has a right to not like them or own them but if it were me I know I would certaintly have a few amazing ferraris. Probably more than a few. But hey, it's his choice. Maybe I just personally feel like he's at a loss and he surely doesn't because if he did he would have one.

Leno is got some issues and a fast mouth to sometimes prove it. He can't work on a Ferrari but he does in a McLaren F1, yeah right... Then complaints about $22k diagnostic computer and he makes 22 million just by farting.

Please shut the F..K UP Leno. Also who cares about what he thinks about Ferrari, specially when he doesn't even own one.
