Hey guys! I have been doing quite a bit of searching looking at Ferraris and Lotuses. Seen the 1984 Lotus Esprit and am waiting to see a 1990 Lotus Esprit Turbo when the owner calls me to view it. But so far, the AutoInc 348TS with new COE of 62k is fetching $210k. A 308GTS is being quoted to me at $165k with 9 years COE left. And the Mondial on sgcarmart is going at $98k with COE till 2019. Still drawn to the Ferraris over the Lotus. Pardon the stupid questions and ignorance but have a been a Jap car man for a long time. The only non Jap car I have owned is a 2003 Opel Astra Cabrio which I still have till today. Everything else has been from a 1998 Subaru GC8 (loved it!) till the newer WRXes. So with this new movement into Italian, I have a question about the Mondial. Can the fins be removed like Kopiokosong's TR? Also, anyone know more about the Mondial in sgcarmart? I have seen it. Mechanically it seems fine. Interior is wee bit worn nd was wondering if work can be done on he little bits that may be falling off or hardened etc.... Advice? Thanks. Leroy
Am i slow or is this a 2011 f-chat thingy? I saw a green light beside each user's nick which represent that we are online! Now we can see who is a lurker
spoke to one of the 348 owners just now, i think he'll call u tomorrow. not sure if the mondial fins can be removed or that aesthetically it would look ok without. on the tr the fins run along the doors so can be detached real easy but on mondial i think they run along the body so access to remove may be a bit difficult. imo the mondial with its 2+2 body is already a little understated so the strakes give it that supercar flair ,without which it may look a bit ordinary
Appreciate the help. Looking forward to the call tomorrow. Anyone familiar with the 1990 Lotus Esprit? Good drive?
And removing those fins will leave you a gaping hole since the air scoop is not a gradual scallop like the TR. At least the TR's scoop w/o fins makes it look like the 355's.
i ran an esprit 350 for a while, did not like it at all, felt a bit like kit car, engine note didnt sound very exotic n interior trim was so-so. tho its much more powerful n modern compared to mondial, the mondial was so much more fun and an occasion to drive everytime! maybe that noble m400 might be a different proposition tho...
Got a friend who has 2 lotuses, a 348TS and a carb 308 (Tim, you should know who). Too bad he now just about lives in Thailand or you should speak to him. Lotuses are somewhat built like kit cars but lots of power on a light body. I actually like that wedgey shape, also another Bond car! Now all you need is a Barbara Bach look alike next to you and you'll find the excuse to use the little pistol .
koenigsegg, mclaren ,ford gt,aiyoh the list is endless.actually with say 150 -200k in singapore what do u guys think is the best value exotic/ super car?
Gransport? I just realised my photos are being used for the ad keke... http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=145443&DL=1000 btw, the diablo VT was sold! http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=143116&DL=1000
mugen i want! swear i was actually checking thru sg carmart for one, or a s2000- but now veering more to a vw r 32 for my wife.. anyone with any views on this, especially vs gti? i am attracted to dsg idea. also test drove an a3 3.2 dsg sportwagon quattro bot for same money another s type r available but been there done that
I saw a tai tai driving GranCabrio buying prata at Jalan Kayu on sunday..... very chio! Hermes Collier De Chien and chanel slippers
1 back to back report says the heavy V6 spoils the R32's turn in and you get only a little more kick than the GTi but pay a lot more. I think best to just boost the turbo on a standard GTi and you'll get a lot of car for not so much $$. Good car.
Tim, you can consider the golf r. Am selling mine now the heavy front V6 on the previous R32 is now replaced by 2.0litre turbo sourced from mk5 gti. Dsg gearbox is faultless. Handling is excellent for this hatchback.
was thinking gransport cabrio, real modern supercar performance,or 996 turbo maybe.shapes a bit boring tho. is 996 gt3 in the ballpark? are there anymore maser 3200gt left- love those boomerang lights, the 4200 lights were a step backwards imo. for yesteryear, 308 shape n sound is hard to beat tho i also like 993 cabrio (except for the accordion softtop). but tr has got bigger punch for gt drives. hmm noble is below 200K... just enquired, ksg exhaust for tr from kbs is 12300
