Can I ask why. (on both points you make)

My aim down the track really is 308 or 328 GTB.

IMO the 308 is a much, much prettier design than the 328. The 308 carbed models have much more personality and sound better than the fuel injected 328's. Against that, the 328's are the last of the line and benefit from all the development the car had over the period 1975-1989. They are very trouble free, are the easiest to drive and don't rust as badly as the early metal 308's. There are numerous other little things but you get the idea.

I really liked my 328; but I love my 308 and I would take the 308 every time.

Ever heard of www.carsales.com.au? There's 7 of them in there for sale all under 100k and as for someone else's comment before about no chance finding a manual 360, again carsales.com - there's 15 of them for sale. This is just the first place I started looking. Why are people saying they're so hard to find?

Don't disagree with your other points but I have always preferred the look of the 328....what makes the 308 prettier (other than it was first/purer?)

You didn't read the comments properly. It's hard to find a GOOD one. You'll be surprised when you start looking.

Externally I much prefer the 328,but the 308 has a more authentic interior,I wont say better because the electrics are better than the 308,so is the A/C(althought that doesnt really count for much)
Sound-308 with webbers and a nice exhaust is absolute music, but the 328 Euro model without cats and a nice exhaust sounds pretty nice too
When I sold the GT4 I was pondering on which car to get to replace it.My heart was first set on a Testarossa, but my garage spot is a bit tight to get in and out of so I had to rule it out.I thought about a 360 and drove a nice one as well, but for some reason it didnt tick all my boxes(and at the time it was right at the limit of my budget)
I then began looking at the 328.I was interested in getting the GTB which are very rare, probably only half a dozen or so in Australia and even less for sale.I was inquiring about Peter's car as well.He sold it for a good price.
I ended up with a GTS but Im really glad with my purchase.A three owner car with 17k on the clock with all the service history. It had the belts replaced 6 months before. In the 18 months that Ive had it I have only replaced the oil, filter and gearbox oil.It had a leak in the A/C system which I fixed as well.
Its fast enough for our roads and being that I dont ever get any time to track it it doesnt have to be faster.
I dont think I will ever replace it,,,well maybe for that Testarossa Ive always wanted :D

Agree 100% PP. I got a cheap one, but it cost me $150k to turn it back into a GOOD one. ;)

I guess it's personal opinion; but the 308 is a prettier and uncluttered design, as is often the case with the original version. The 308 has aged very well; but the 328 kind of reminds me of an "Anniversary" Countach vs the original LP 400. Same car essentially; but the original remains a sensation today, the last of the line just looks like a Countach that some DH has riced up with a bodykit. Extreme comparison; but you get the idea.

The guy just wants to know how much it is to service a ****ing 360 in Oz!

There were approx 500 of the various model 360's officially imported plus god knows how many POS imports. Knowing that, 15 manuals isn't a lot; but that is more than i would have expected.
Carsales.com? Yes, along with everybody else in Oz I think.
Just for kicks, go and have a look at as many of those 308's as you can. I would be amazed if a PPI on any of them indicted they were good cars. You will find they all have a huge list of needs and that normally runs into the multiple tens of thousands.

There are numerous people here who have been there and done that.

Spend some time with a Testarossa before you sell your 328 to get one. I did 18,000 miles in one in conditions ranging from street, to Tarmac Rallies and race circuits. They are expensive to maintain and IMO, not a particularly great car.

I worked out long ago that if I am ever in the position of buying a 308 or 328, the first thing I will be doing is telling a few people here that I am looking. With the number of cars that are out there, I know that someone here would point me in a far better direction than I could find myself using carsales/carpoint.

Huge "if" in that sentence, I'm not even at the stage of being a "gunna".

Thats the thing...Ive only ever been told that they are very impratical...if you could even consider a Ferrari being practical...but in my eyes are beautiful car to look at..
Sorry for going a bit off topic, but for those of you who have owned or spent time in both a Testarossa and a BB,are they completelynchalk and cheese?Ive always considered the Boxer as a 308/328 on steroids(in a good way of course)and maybe the Testarossa the equivalent to a muscle car
