The Top gear guys should get The Stig to take one around the track and compare the track time with modern day supercars

    Love this:

"The whole is in good armony with the styling of the car"

To be said in an Italian accent presumably?

I'd rather see them do a special where they take different eras and test the supercars of those times in history. How would a Miura S do against a Daytona, Series III E-Type, and a Mangusta? How would an LP400S Countach do against a Pantera, a 512BB and a 930 Turbo? How would the Diablo compare to the 512TR, the Bugatti EB110 or the XJ220?

Most of the cars you mentioned I drove.

The LP 400S would outperform the Mangusta clearly the 512BB but would struggle with the handling and boost of the Porsche 930 Turbo!

The Bugatti EB110 -a technical masterpiece and also in build-quality- would be superior in handling, acceleration and torque over the 512TR and clearly outperform the XJ220 which is only very fast on the straight -but in corners.....

    Ciao!

FWIW that's Paul Halstead in 1120272, an LP400 converted with some S features.

Henri Pescarolo tested driven it... mulitple driving 24 Hours Le Mans for years, MATRA factory driver, etc... it explains surely the control you don't have...

When I saw it on TV by that period, I bought immediately the magazine "L'Action Automobile" to read the reportage featured inside...

You will notice/read that Sandro Munari was angry against Henri because he drove it like a race car... tacho showes 108 km on picture and 133 km inside video... "a brand new old car" or a sheep for the wolf !

Which proves yet again that to get the best out of a Countach your driving skills have to be significant.

Series III 12 cylinder etype was a serious let down performance wise for me. (It was a 70k restoration job on a 4 speed car I might add). 930 is just a beast, especially tuned. Diablo feels a nice bit faster than a 512tr. I won't rattle any cages here on what I know the Pantera will do. No idea on the Bugatti or Jag XJ220.

No, it's correct. I was asking because you originally counted twenty, but without #168. Then you said that you discovered an 21st car, but you did not mention the chassis number. That's why I was asking.

Yes, I saw that #168 is missing in your list, therefore I asked. #168 was featured in a very nice article in an English classic car magazine in 1998 (together with a red 365 BB), hence I remember that yellow/black RHD car.

I think they were pissed off because the car wasn't broken in yet (evidenced by the low miles), before it was driven like a raped ape.

    Exactly.

To many racing drivers cars are just "equipment" with which to go fast. There is little mechanical sympathy or consideration. I bet he never even looked at the odometer.

My middle daughter is working in melbourne Australia just now and saw this black QV outside a cafe today. She got excited and was telling her friend that her dad had a white one like it and took some pics. She thinks the owner was in the cafe looking out. Something I do when I go into Glasgow with mine! Sad but true!
Anyone know this car? Is the owner on here?
