Poor little Michael, sitting forlornly on the side, Threw the ****ty interception and the Eagle fans all cried. Looking like a loser; so many thought you were a lock, The Kenyan will surely call you and maybe sniff your jock. Poor little Michael, can the the season be really over, Whacha' gonna do now? Go back to drowning Rover? Maybe losing in the first round will stop your MVP... Maybe someone who played better, like that guy Tom Brady? But you've still got lots of money, and people who forgot, Will always have your back, and kiss your ass no matter what... Because your rushing and passing is the most important thing, Along with the take to the bank, Eagles Super Bowl ring. So don't worry little Mikey, your chance will come again, And then you can thrill us all some more, as we watch as mortal men.
What's the point? You hate Michael Vick? You hate Philly? You love Tom Brady? Vick on the field is no different than any other player, including Brady, they ALL react the same when they lose a game, don't kid yourself, I've been in those locker rooms after games, I have seen it all, stuff you will never see on TV. What Vick has done off the field is in the past. Some people (ahem) cannot seem to get past that, but he lost 100 million dollars, he spent two years in prison, he has paid his debt to society, it's time to get over it. Do I condone what he did? Will I forgive? Will I forget? NO, but still, it's time to get over it and let the guy move on with his life.
DAYUM, That'll teach me to C/P an email.... FWIW, Vick may be an exciting player to watch but, IMO, there are a lot of gifted athletes who should be given a chance over a convicted felon/ex con. This kind of earning potential should not be given to him or any other with his criminal record. Try putting that on a job resume outside of sports.
That's just it - the NFL is the pinnacle of football, hundreds, thousands of players are coached, scouted, worked out, put thru the ringer, and FEW ever reach the echelons that the top guys have, few have 'it', and a LOT have tried. Look at all the Heisman winners that have gone on to the NFL and have fallen on their arses.. Like him or hate him, Vick is one of the very best at what he does, and he deserves what he gets. That got him a few years in prison, and it may get him a new contract - good for him. The suckiest player in the league can run rings around you or I, and the 10-12 best QB's in the league are far better than any others, that's just the way it is. You put any driver in Senna's car 20 years ago, or Schumi's car 5 years ago, they won't do near as good, and it's the same at the position of NFL QB. No, I am not saying Vick has the character of Senna or Schumi, I speak purely of their professional capabilities. I'll say it again because I keep having to: I don't like what Vick did, I doubt I can forget or forgive him, but he has paid his debt to society, and he deserves the right to make a living, just as you or I would if we screwed up. The other thing is, Vick could have fallen flat on his face this year, but he didn't. Nobody would be saying a word if he did that, except all the idiots saying 'I told you so'. Darth, I understand your position, I just don't agree with part of it, but that's OK.
Just one question. If Michael Vick gets the opportunity to come back after being convicted of a felony when will Pete Rose be given the opportunity to get his Hall of Fame shot? Rose's crime was much less malicious than Vicks and Pete is still being punished for it. If Vick can be forgiven so quickly why is taking forever to forgive Pete Rose???? Why is he so much worse a felon than Michael Vick is? So he bet on baseball games as a manager. Did he ever do anything to hurt anyone or anything?? Let's get parity on this. Pete was the best and deserves to be recognized for his contribution to the game.....And look at the records of his that still stand below...........If Pete Rose should be forced to not be recognized and permanently banned so should Vick. But I am not opposed to either of them being recognized. Pete's eligibility should be reinstated and Vick should be given the chance to succeed or fail...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Rose
Rose is where Vick should be - banned. This is the only instance in which Selig has shown he has a pair. Rose also denied betting to the end and (still) has no remorse for what he did. Also, betting, especially when you can control the outcome of games to some degree is like committing "Capital Murder" in baseball.
Because Rose bet on something he was active in, and bet on something he COULD have facilitated the outcome to fall a certain way so as to possibly profit from it. Vick didn't do that, plain and simple. PS - and I am NOT saying Rose should be banned from the HOF, but from managing a team? Yes.
You wanna know what the thing really is (not just mine)??? Americans love our dogs and anyone who F's with them is a POS! End of story.
I could agree there.......Pete Rose set some great records that will very difficult for anyone following him to top. Hall of Fame, Yes, for his records. Active coaching or managing, NO... You cannot take away his accomplishments as a player......
And our cats. I could not agree more, but people deserve a chance to move on. Look at the reverse - some folks say if a dog bites someone then that dog should be put down. I disagree 1000%, the dog is just doing what is natural to him or her, some are biters, some are not, hell, I'd bite too if I thought a giant that is standing 6' over me was a threat... Heck, we don't know what strange PEOPLE will do that approach us, if anything.
