I started doing it after I discovered that Leang does it too. I think it's superior to right foot braking in general if only because it lowers my brake reaction time. Unfortunately, almost all road cars aren't designed for this, so it's just kinda uncomfortable to do it.

Will also post my reply here.

Spent time reading the posts above. This has been a very interesting thread with lots of debate. I would like to chip in my opinion on Left Foot Braking (LFB).

When I was learning how to drive, I got scolded by my instructor for using my left foot to brake. But after getting my licence, I started to accustom myself to lfb. Yes, it will start out to be weird to lfb. First timers will stomp greatly on the brake pedal. But after a few days of practice, you're good to go and modulate your braking pressure thru your left foot.
I guess it's a matter of habit and being conscious of using which foot to brake. I switch between lfb and rfb when driving. Most brake pedals in cars are installed higher than the accelerator, hence making it difficult or even tiring to brake at such a height. People say that in times of emergency, a lfb-er will jam both the brakes and accelerator together, resulting in undesirable consequences.

I beg to differ. It always takes an extra effort to know that the left foot is for braking. Ever since getting my licence, I've been able to drive auto and manual with no problems.
From a racing pt of view, I believe there is much time to be gained from lfb. The transition period when one lifts his right foot from the accelerator to brake pedal will have contributed significantly to the lap timings, hundredths of seconds. If one is fine with lfb and can perfect his or her braking technique, lfb is definitely the way to go.

My friend runs a Mugen RR... its an amazing car on the track and needs nothing. But its also pretty expensive for a Civic...

Better car than an R32 for sure, and the R32 is not as good as a GTi.

Also very useful (actually more useful) for turbo cars to keep the boost up. But when you have a manual car (though I know most of you dont anymore) it kinda disappears in usefulness as a technique especially if you are trying to heel and toe at the same time... unless you have three ahem legs... hahaha

tried lfb occasionally when driving in light traffic to try n learn to modulate brake pressure but the thing i find is that the pedals and seat (even the cs) dont seem to be designed for this n i felt quite awkward trying to use the left foot for the brake pedal. for the manual tr n murcie i just stick with heel toe (3rd leg cannot reach:D)

Buddies, what can S$400K buy now?

Been offered a less than 6 months old GT3 Mk1 for slightly above that & I was actually shopping for a cheap $50K wrx to muck around.

It's like buying an almost new Scud for a used F430 price but the 458 is the already on the roads.

Love the handling, so-so on the looks, a bit boring on the power but this is one car that I would go around driving it to de-stress.

Hmmm, if it's for mucking about, I think it's possible to go cheaper, and more fun too. The Mk 1 Elise (I think! IMHO) would be more of a drivers' car.

Just add $50,000 to the above and you can have the best hum for 1 month.

That's an interesting idea. The Gtr was taken off my radar, great things about it but probably too clinical for me, would prefer something simpler & lesser electronics. Hey dude, there's no 996RS only that couple of 996GT3 II but all about S$250-280K on 5th year. We can exchange you know, miss my Murcie & heard you have one with manual gearbox :D

Don't like it. Strangely it sells pretty alright in Malaysia, probably due to the tax system here & branding.

    er hmmmm no. Thanks.

That's an option, was offered an 07 blue with beige for S$450K & under 10K miles! but might as well save up for a DBS & stop mucking around! :D

Seriously, DB9 was a contender & addition to the turbo before but I took the GTC as the latter offers more lifestyle but near ZERO driver's sensation.

    What's that?

Btw, 2yr olds 997GT3 are asking for $380K. A bit high IMHO which makes this unit look cheap!

    I can even find mid-term Gallardo & 430! Yaiks...
