I haven't been since 1997. What I used to draw from the Auto Show, I get from the net. And if I want to see a specific new model, I'll go to a showroom. BTW, that Fiat is on my shopping list.
I asked myself does MTL sell that many RR to warrant a dealer??? And then i remembered seeing 4 RR Ghost, 1 Phantom and 2 Drop Head for a total of 7 which is more then i seen of Ferraris or Lamborghinis so i guess i answered my own question
Québec Rolls-Royce Dealership Expected to be Awarded to Two Montréal Automotive Veterans Iconic luxury vehicle franchise returning to Montréal MONTREAL, Jan. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Dealership rights for Rolls-Royce automobiles in Québec are expected to be granted shortly by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars NA, LLC to Première Automotive Partners, a company formed for the highly prestigious project by established Montréal retail automotive operators, Groupe Park Avenue and Holand Automotive Group. Première Automotive Partners, headed by Norman Hébert and Gad Bitton, have competed with several other contenders to bring the coveted Rolls-Royce brand back to Québec. The province has not had a Rolls-Royce franchise since 2003. The new dealership will be known as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Québec. "We are privileged to be competing for the opportunity to bring Rolls-Royce to Québec," said Norman Hébert, Dealer Principal of Première Automotive Partners and President and CEO of Groupe Park Avenue. "Our goal, should negotiations conclude as expected, will be to provide a level of service and professional attention commensurate with the prestige of the Rolls-Royce brand. Accordingly, with a projected investment of approximately $5 million, we will provide a facility and team capable of delivering the highest levels of customer care in the automotive retail marketplace." New showroom and service facilities for Rolls-Royce Motors Cars Québec are being built at 5155 de Sorel, at the centre of Montreal's district for luxury auto dealerships. The facility is expected to be fully operational by April of this year. Approximately 15 new jobs will be created as a result of the new dealership. The showroom of Rolls-Royce Montréal will feature the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Rolls-Royce Ghost, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé. Gad Bitton, Dealer Principal of Première Automotive Partners and President and CEO of Holand Automotive Group said the awarding of the franchise to his group would present a unique challenge that he is anxious to face. "The Rolls-Royce brand represents more than a business - it is emblematic of quality, value and prestige. Every aspect of our operation will therefore respond to the demands of elegance and sophistication. We aim to provide our clientele with a very special experience." Combined, the two automotive veterans have over 60 years in the business and operate a total of 24 dealerships in North America. "We can confirm that Rolls-Royce is in negotiations with Première Automotive Partners," said David Archibald, President, Rolls-Royce North America. "We highly value the interest, enthusiasm and profound expertise brought to this project by Première Automotive Partners, and we expect to have exciting news to share about the return of Rolls-Royce to the Montreal automotive marketplace in the coming weeks."
So here's some updates on my car's progress... Last week they worked on the left front. Cleaned up all the brake rotors and found that the hub on one was cracked so needs to be replaced. My insurance (TD) won't cover the other side and I don't want to mix new and worn brakes so I'll be replacing the other disk out of pocket. Changed the steering tie rod, hub, bearing, spindle, brake caliper, and lower control arm. They also noticed damage to the top control arm so a new one has been ordered. The left front and right rear shocks are bent. Unfortunately the original parts have been superseded by new ones that aren't compatible with the old ones. Insurance will only replace the parts that were damaged as a direct consequence of the accident so I had to order 4 new shocks and springs out of pocket I asked that the car go to the paint shop so we're not sitting idle while waiting for parts to arrive. On order are the control arm, 20 new lugnuts, 2 under panels, 4 shocks, 4 springs, and an oil seal. It got there yesterday. I stopped by today but work hadn't started, found some of the new parts laying around. Oh and they also changed the seat airbag, and airbag control unit. Here's the bodywork I found in the paintshop.. Didn't see the rear diffuser or fender anywhere... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
BTW, my highlights of the auto show: Fiat 500: awesome, I want one badly for the girlfriend and I'm more sold than ever. She however started having doubts about it because I don't actually fit in it very well. For some reason the seats are VERY high and can't be lowered much. I'll live with it because it simply has a phenomenal amount of personality for any car, let alone such a small/cheap one. The materials are top notch. The finish and feels like something that would cost 3-4 times as much. Murcielago Roadster: The Arancio Ishtar (I actually went through the fence to check the paint code under the hood) Murcielago roadster was SICK. Wow what a great colour! New A7: very nice all around but not sure about the rear slop of the roof 750 Plethore: Horrid fit and finish, materials, and paint. Looks like a cheap respray of a beat up old car. Interior is definitely not up to snuff for a car of this kind. The fake rear diffusers make me wonder about the aerodynamics too. 458: First time I see one in person. I've been on the fence about this car since it came out, haven't liked a ferrari since the 355. In person though, I like it! It's very cool and original, the lines balance well, especilly the front 2/3rds, the rear is a little less successful. Still like the 355 noise better. I'm spoiled by the extremely visceral V10 in the Gallardo.
I was also VERY impressed by the 640 roady...such a rare color suits the lines of the big boy lambo well.
Things are going not so bad. She will be ready to go soon. I was wondering...have you ever went to a drag race with your Lambo? Have you ever heard of ICAR in Mirabel (old airport). Last summer I went there a couple times, I'v seen Ford GT's, Viper, Vettes, 911 Turbos, ZR1, GTR's, R8's. etc. Nissan GT-R were doing 11.5 sec on the 1/4 mile. It would be fun to see you go against those machines.
I've heard of it, never went though. I did race a couple bikes though. One guy with a 929RR had a buddy film it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnXGhxSUOnU[/ame]
Sweet! cool that someone uses it! Not familiar with a black one. Think I saw (my gf heard it first ) it once going past mt royal.
